Hey fellow Dtoiders! After visiting this site countless times, laughing at Mr. Sterling's witty jests and devouring the news on the front page, I've finally mustered up the courage (and drive) to post an intro blog. Yet as I type up this up, I'm feeling nervous for the reception it's going to have. o_0
My name is Skyler (Sky Sky to some of my friends) and I'm at the glorious age of 19. I'm kind of a shy guy, usually keeping to myself when in an unfamiliar environment. Sometimes (more so when I was younger) I'll avoid any social interaction with unfamiliar situations and in some cases go far out of my way. Though I've certainly gotten better ever since I got a
job a few years ago, the introverted part of myself hasn't quite left me. However, once I get used to something or someone I start to open up a little before I completely explode with the rest of my personality, which can be described from goofy to utterly ridiculous and slightly embarrassing. I also tend to be outspoken and blunt (which others would describe as brutally honest).
Enough about my personality though! Let's get to the juicy goodness of my gaming habits...That is, if I can manage to keep my attention on a game for longer than 15 minutes before switching discs. As some of you may be able to tell, I adore Chrono Trigger and to a greater extent, RPG's. A good chunk of my playing time has been attributed to examples of this wonderful genre, such as Final Fantasies IV through IX, the Chrono series, and of course Pokemon. I've also dabbled into the FPS, survivor horror, action/adventure, and more recently, RTS genres. Although not greatly significant at first, video games would gradually become more important to me as I got older. I think Duck Hunt was the first game I've played...And I'll be damned if I ever forgive that fucking dog. Over the course of time, I would fondly recall various gaming moments and music, from such games as Metal Gear Sold 4 and Chrono Trigger. Unfortunately due to my parents waiting so long to conceive me, I've missed out on a lot of badass games that I wish I could find the time/attentiveness to play. I'm slowly crawling my way to my goal of playing the greats, my first trial being the Mega Man series. I fucking love it, but...
Damn, Dr. Wily knows how to make a good stronghold. As far as everything else I missed, I anxiously await the day that I will acquire a Wii and a viable internet connection and download retro titles to my heart's content.
Despite my blooming love for gaming, I seem to have a bizarre (and annoying) tendency to throw my energy into a game for a short period of time before becoming bored and tossing my attention elsewhere. Unfortunately this applies to everything I do (I've been planning on doing this intro for months). It has also affected what I want to do with my life, although not in an inspiring way. I've thought about becoming a musician, a poet, a songwriter, a fiction writer, a psychologist, a philosophy teacher, a zoologist, a photographer, an illustrator, and most recently, a creative director. There just seems to be a mish-mash of ideas that flow through my head, yet there isn't a medium in which I can express it. Although it isn't such a pressing issue at this point, my other "bad" habit of thinking too much sometimes raises the question when I'm idle in thought and can't escape it.
I also have a bad habit of going on tangents.
Anyway, I should probably put this intro to a close, and I thank you for reading. If you didn't and you feel cheated, here's a picture of Joe Biden with a puppy. Enjoy.
It's good to have an active mind that's bursting with ideas. I couldn't tell you how many people I've met over the years in my life that just don't do anything outside their box of existence. To each his own, I suppose.
Welcome to Destructoid. :)
I see your Biden holding a puppy and raise you a Clooney holding a puppy.
As a creative person with a PS3, I would heartily recommend LittleBigPlanet.
Welcome, enjoy a random puppy image.
@Cyphervr- You're icon depresses and angers me. =p
@Captainbus- I've consider it, except I don't have a broadband connection that'd fully take advantage of the game's features. I heard the platforming kinda sucks too. *shrug*
@Puppy Licks- I see your Clooney and raise you an Obama.
