My Gaming/Nerd Room
Alex | 1:50 PM on 03.20.2008 27 comments

Hey there Dtoid C-Bloggers,

today i want to show you my little gaming room. I still live with my parents in a big house and i have the whole floor for myself (including my own toilet and kitchen) but i want to show you the part where i really live and have fun all day long.

First we take a look at the whole TV setup.
I have a old 38" Samsung HD-Ready LCD TV. Connected to a old Kenwood 5.1 Dolby Digital System for sound and my consoles.
A little overview:

Here is a close up of my main consoles. Of course my new (bought january 2008) xbox 360, my loved dreamcast, my loved n64 and of course a wii. (who doesnt have one?)
I like having some of the controllers right in front so i dont have to look everywhere for them. You also see my phone, my hdd-camcorder, my dvt-satelite reciever (german television sucks, but anyways) and a world of warcraft calander which is still on february because i am too lazy to change it:

The next image is taken right on top of the tv. You can see some dvd-boxes (southpark, saw, futurama, back to the future, schindlers list) and games (on top is scene it, bottom some xbox 360 games (told you, only have it since january, scene it controllers, 360 extras, some music cds, southpark vhs). On top of the tv is the sensor bar for the wii and the infrared thing from these scene it controllers:

To the left of the TV you see my "red box" (will show you the inside later), my kenwood tuner which i told you about earlier with dvd player. It sucks. the vhs recorder is broken and doesnt show any picture anymore.. but i dont have much vhs anyways. more left you can see my dvd collection. Since we moved to this house last year i dont have any space to put them so i just put them in the corner. the picture on the red box was drawn by my girlfriend.

right next to the dvds are mainly dreamcast controllers and stuff like that. there is the fishing controller, some original (never used) normal controllers, 2 lightguns (which wont work on my lcd), extra memory cards, mouse and keyboard. there is also a nes and a snes which i cant connect to the tv atm because i dont have the space in front of the tv.

Now you can see my bed and couch. Normally it looks like this. But you can also expand the couch (which i only do on weekends when my girlfriend will stay over night). i put some wireless controllers at the bottom of the table so i dont have to stand up everytime i want to play (wiimote, nunchuck, classic controller, wavebird, 360 controller). nothing more to say here..

so this is the "red box". I put all my games inside this little thing. as i told you earlier, i dont have much space, so i really had a hard time to find the perfect way to put everything in. bottom: front, n64 games, back: n64, snes game packages left and right: NES games + snes games.. nothing special. Top: Gamecube, wii, ds and gba games. one ps2 game from my brother (singstar) and some wii controller boxes.

to the right of the tv i have this blue thing where i put my controllers and other different stuff in. lets go from buttom to top.

Bottom:
nes controllers (4), nes arcade stick, four score and one very old donkey kong game which has 2 controllers inside..
2nd: the old gamecube, snes controllers, snes cables, Nintendo Scope IR-Thing.. the nintendo scope itself is somewhere in my room.. i never really played with it, it just looks cool. and of course the snes mouse for mario paint action.
3rd: gba and n64 stuff. my second (i only have 2) n64 controller, my gba with gba to gamecube connection cable, transfer pack from pokemon stadium and my gameboy printer (didnt use it for about 5 years).
4th: Gamecube controllers, wii condomes (THEY SUCK, but are free..)

5th is just my collection of these gay adapters no one needs nowadays..

now we have my pc. I dont play much games on it (since i love consoles more and my pc doesnt have enough power to run bioshock) and only use it for internet, school and video editing. (thats why i have 2 monitors).

we come close to the end: my old monitor which is connected to a vga box for my dreamcast. i use it to play lightgun games which wont work on my lcd. there is also my wii guitar. i dont have the 360 version because i bought it before i got the 360. which sucks..

last picture, hooray :D this was my old dreamcast corner. now its nothing anymore i think. i used the old couch to chill out and play dreamcast on the old monitor. there are still some dreamcast cables and even the speakers are still connected to the vga box. you can see 3 pcs, one of them is my old one, which only has a mainboard inside because the cpu broke and 2 other ones which i had to repair for someone but they both have broken HDDs they dont have the money to buy new ones atm.

So this was my room. I hope you liked it.. maybe you could give me some feedback :D

You have more Wii games than can possibly be worth owning, are you tapped into some Wii goldmine that provides games not available at my local Gamestop?
Alex's Destructoid Blog
4 of these boxes are wii point cards. wii sports was with the wii, then there is gh3, wario ware, zelda, rayman and wii play (cuz of second wiimote)..

I don't know whether you are a girl or a guy(???), either way, that's the ugliest face plate I have ever seen (on your 360).

Otherwise though: That is a pretty SW33T collection.

Must be a girl due to the heroic effort at organization. Guys wouldn't bother, as my wife constantly makes clear to me.

I like your computer area, with the ceiling window or whatever you call that window on the side.
Variable Gear's Destructoid Blog
Don't you hate those N64 carts? It's so hard to see what game is which, since the label is only on the front. :(
gladstone's Destructoid Blog
That TV looks to small to be 38". Are you sure you don't mean 28"?
gladstone's Destructoid Blog
I mean "too small," not "to small," by the way.
CrocBox's Destructoid Blog
That's a pretty awesome shag pad you got there :P I actually like the faceplate and I have to agree with Droobies it could probably use some more breathing room.
welkstar's Destructoid Blog
I really like how your desk is set up by that window. I dunno why, its just really nice. Dreamcast with VGA is the shit, I wish that every DC game was compatible with VGA.
