Dark_AleX and The Prometheus Team create universal downgrader/unbricker for PSP
Alaphic | 4:46 AM on 08.25.2007 4 comments

They're calling it Pandora's Battery, and it's a set of utilities they've created that are designed to unbrick PSPs, or restore them to a subset of the v1.50 firmware. The instructions that come with it aren't terribly complicated, and the materials requirement isn't that extensive either; consisting of only an extra battery and a Memory Stick Pro Duo, which most PSP owners likely already have.

There's a complete list of instructions included in the file, and Dark_AleX gives a brief run through in the forum post where he talks about it's release here.

i'm not trying to rain on the parade, but you are a couple days late on this. i posted about it and i wasn't even the first one. one of these days we will both be first. [at different times of course.]

still, that was pretty epic news for the psp community. [: i'm thinking of setting up a 'jigkick' and a 'magic memory stick' and offering an unbricking service for just a couple of bucks. i'll take a percentage and donate the rest to the developers. sadly, i don't know how to advertise this helpful service to those that can't get it together themselves without having to worry about safety issues.

Damn, I can't believe I missed your post about this, or the first one.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
