PS3 Slim available at Best Buy.
Akiba | 11:32 PM on 08.26.2009 12 comments

I apologize for the crude cell phone image, but you get the idea.

I didn't expect to see these things until next week, especially since I live in Montana. Fuckin' w00t.

If you're lookin' to get your big meaty claws on a Slim ASAP, check your local Best Buy.

I love revised systems. So damn cool. Can't wait to replace my launch PS3.

BMT Game Mural
Akiba | 7:00 PM on 08.11.2009 4 comments

A group of seven young adults from three local high schools in Billings Montana put together this rather stupid mural. It was completed nearly two long years ago. I should have been the eighth contributor, but my request to muralize Solid Snake was denied by the twit supervising the whole project. Whatever. The full mural is in the gallery. Check it.

Fallout 3: Point Lookout Mini-Review
Akiba | 4:57 PM on 07.04.2009 5 comments

I'm sitting in my freezing basement. Shirtless. 'S how I spend my days off work and national holidays..

The most recent, and ambitious of the Fallout 3 DLC, titled Point Lookout, is quite easily the best. It reminded me of gallant romps through Cyrodil, while preserving the horrid "reality" of a world torn by nuclear war. The setting and mood, so different from previous expansions, alone make this a game of its own. The linear gameplay of previous DLC nearly killed any desire I had left in me to care about future content, for fear that anything new would follow the same sad path. Point Lookout changed all that. It's a change of scenery, a new land to roam, a rewarding experience, and worth ten bucks. It's fun, it's glorious, and it lives up to a promise previous Fallout 3 DLC couldn't. If you love Fallout 3, and your country, get this DLC.

My only gripe: The frame rate was whack.

Short post is short. Happy Fourth of July.

The Sun Is In Your Hand: Kojima and PSP Go!
Akiba | 2:45 AM on 06.01.2009 7 comments

Has anyone theorized that Kojima's next game might actually be games? Like, more than one? I was almost convinced that the teaser site was hinting Boktai 5 until the Big Boss and Raiden images all but confirmed the existence of another Metal Gear, but the blinking letter/numbers/symbols were so cryptic even Robert Langdon couldn't make heads or tails of it. And I'll admit, I fapped my ass off. But, like everyone else, I was let down that Kojima wouldn't be releasing anything new outside the Metal Gear franchise. And then the second teaser site appeared, and, more recently, there was mention of a new Metal Gear in the leaked Quore video. WTF, right? I find myself more pissed off than exited with all these teasers and theories. I hope that every theory is right. I hope we get a new Metal Gear, a new Z.O.E, Boktai 5 and whatever else, all at the same time.

Christ, I love Kojima.

Secondly, the PSP Go!
I like it. A lot.

Based on the size comparison above, all the bitches that have been bitching about how uncomfortable it will be to hold need to stop bitching. It's a slimmed down PSP meant to evoke a cell phone. It's no iPod touch or Zune HD, but it'll get the job done, and with 16 gigs built in Sony is heading in the right direction. I just hope it won't cost a small fortune to get my hands on one. But I know it will.

Zune HD Unveiled
Akiba | 7:54 PM on 05.26.2009 6 comments

The highly anticipated Zune HD has been officially unveiled. It's got a touchscreen like everything else these days, and it looks pretty sleek. It features a 3.3 inch OLED touchscreen, and a whole bunch of HD riffraff. This ought to be a big attraction at E3, where Microsoft is to dish out all the juicy details. For now, I'll just tool around with my brother's iPod Touch.
