Hello, I'm Ahmet Beraty. I've been a member for a while but i have just recently started being a participating member of this amazing community. I'm not great with spelling or grammar, so if your about to read one of my posts, I will advise you to turn and run. I'll update this later when I have more time. I LOVE DESTRUCTOID, and the amazing twitter party's. Also, follow me on twitter @ twitter.com/King_Ahmet
ok, hes not the best author of all time. but he is really good. i have all his books, and im almost about to blow a load just waiting for his new book pygmy to come out on May 5th. out of my top 5 favorite book, three are written by him (survivor, fight club, and choke).
Pygmy does touch on a couple sensitive issues, like most of his book, the major issue in this one is terrorism.
here is a little video describing the plot:
it will cost you 25 bucks, but it will be worth it. i will write a review Thursday or Friday. whenever i finish the book.
so when i write about books and movies people get pissed. games aren't the only form of media worth writing about. sometimes its fun to read books. buts thanks anyway for taking time out of YOUR lives to read my blogs that are non game related. and i truly do apologize for any grammatical errors in all past or future blogs.
You can write about stuff other than Video Games. Just put NVGR (not video game related) in the title. But if you actually decide to write something again do check your spelling and write more than 7 sentences.
thanks for the tip, i read that i should tag it but it would be better if i put it in the title. my other two posts were a lot longer. this was just a reminder that it was coming out. my review will be a lot longer. and i will put NVGR in the title.
Breaking news: Chuck Palahniuk is OVERRATED. He hasn't written anything good since Choke and Survivor, and even those weren't terribly impressive amazing. Diary and Lullaby were absolute trash. Sorry, but every book since then has been the same, and I enjoyed Choke and Survivor. Don't take offense to this though, I can accept the fact that you enjoy his work, but he comes nowhere near being the best author ever. Nowhere near. If you want a book about narcissistic nihilists that isn't bad, please, do yourself a favor and read Catch 22, or A Clockwork Orange, or The Rules of Attraction.
i just wanted to get people attention. i don't actually think he is the best, in my opening sentences I said "ok, hes not the best author of all time. but he is really good."
and your right his most recent works, except for Rant, weren't good. but hes still one of my favorite because of his first few books. also, i have read all three of those books, and they were all good. some of my favorites.
P.S. a new book came out called The Lie by Chad Kutchen, its sort of the same as Rules of Attraction.
Interesting. Might pick it up. I'm pretty luckwarm on Chuck, though. I like a lot of his concepts, ironically the actual writing is what usually kills it for me. He seems to have an issue getting a handle on a story, and usually it slips free of his grasp fairly early. Some people claim that's his style, I just say it's poor writing skills.
For example, Fight Club is a brilliant concept. The movie is better than the book. It's better than the book for a variety of reasons, but the most paramount is that it actually develops the characters, then has them act consistently throughout the entire story.
(spoilers for the book follow)
Building Tyler Durden up as a zen anarchist, then actually having him kill someone in the book ruined the character. I much prefer the movies approach; he's a zen anarchist, but his rage is strictly focused at the symbols of consumerism, not the people doing the buying/selling.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
