Hello, I'm Ahmet Beraty. I've been a member for a while but i have just recently started being a participating member of this amazing community. I was one of the lucky few who got the chance to see this movie weeks before it came out. I want to start off by saying, I am not by any means a Trekkie. i have only scene three films, i didn't really like them very much. i will not be posting an extended plot summary because there is no way i can do that without giving away major spoilers.
Star Trek was very good. i went in thinking i was going to get lost and hopefully have everything explained later. but it was very easy to pick up, maybe that's because its a prequel and i didn't need to know anything about the characters. Their were some references tossed in to please the original Trekkies but i pretty much got the just of it.
The movie was great for Trekkies and Nubs. the story was interesting, in a good way. with most sci fi movies i tend to get bored, because i get lost with some terms used, but this was very easy to follow along. it kept me entertained. With most movies I reach that point were I am thinking "when is this garbage gonna be over" never once did this occur .i was so engulfed that i felt like i was abound the USS enterprise. maybe i was just mesmerized by the amazing plot, and acting in this movie. for most of the film i was literally on the edge of my seat.
Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto were both amazing. they both caught the essence of the characters they played. Pine was very charismatic, and foolhardy. Quinto on the other hand was amazing for showing no emotions.the rest of the cast; John Cho, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, and Zoe Saldana all did exceptionally well.
The cgi was beautiful, my jaw dropped during the opening scene with captain Neros ship. the score set the mood. the movie sent me through a spectrum of emotions. i was sad when it came to an end, because i could have stayed in that theater for days (with some food, and a bottle to go in) and continued watching star trek. i wouldn't be surprised if a sequel to this prequel comes out in a couple of years. this movie is definitely worth the 8 dollars. go out and see this multiple times, unfortunately you and I have to wait to may 8th.
This movie totally kicked ass. I got into an early screening with Paramount last week and was blown away by how much I enjoyed it. This is coming from a guy that only knows Kirk and Spock from pop culture references.
In that last image, Sylar's gonna choke Kirk and cut out his brain. :D
Also, on the iPhone there are four prequel comics that take place before the movie, but I'm a little concerned about that as...well, I can't really say for fear of spoilers, but it was enough to get me interested in the film, as it explains Nero's origins and stuff.
