And here I thought I only had to worry about Red Rings.

So, people post left and right here at Dtoid: "Ahhh! Red Rang of teh Doomz!". I promptly read the post, plug my ears and make any number of animal noises I can think of at the time. Thinking maybe, just maybe if I don't think it exists it will never happen to me. As a matter of fact it might have worked. Because I did not get a Red Ring, I got the dreaded "Video card failure"?! I know, totally scary error that happens to all 1 of me.

I think it's the mythical 8 bit gods way of smiting me. Every time I have my "One day a week" it would seem that something goes wrong. Needless to say now I have an extra Composite cable that I don't need (which I originally thought was my problem) and an unopened copy of Gears 2. For all I care, Marcus can hold his breath in that plastic bubble he lives in until get my 360 back. Maybe if Microsoft cant hear my screams they can hear Marcus's.

So anyone else have to fork over a Franklin to Microsoft for this "Video Card Failure" thing. Or am I alone in my not-a-red-ring hole of minor inconvenience? And as a side note, any of you guys colorblind because I definitely spent about 20 minutes talking to the customer support lady because she was confused why my power supply light was yellow when I guess what she wanted to hear was green (it was a really constructive near half hour). C'mon Microsoft, picking on the people who can't be airforce pilots too now? When will the injustice end.

So while your all having fun, Playing Gears, Rock Band and Last Remnant, I'll be pretending only Left4dead exists. So Dtoider's, anyone need a Composite 360 cable for cheap?

I'm sorry for your loss :(

MS should totally provide 3 years warranty for their own faulty hardware and you should totally say it RROD'd or RROD it yourself if you still have to send it in.

Some ppl have been successful at fixing the problem by using a heatgun on the HANA (?) upscaler chip, but most of them haven't.. Guess it's a pretty big hardware failure error.

I unfortunately already payed so there's no reason for me to lie at this point. I got the 360 for 200$ in the beginning anyway (with a 120 gig hard drive) so I figure I can just trick myself and think that I payed 300 from the beginning.

You can't lie, they will check, believe me.

I had a similar issue, in that my 360 was incapacitated, but not red-ringing. Microsoft requires a red ring in order to fix for free, that is, under the warranty. Any other system-killing problem requires $100 from us.

What I had to do, no joke, was turn the thing on and off, over and over and over, until it did, in fact, red ring. After that exercise in stupidity, they did fix it for free. Dumb, but there you have it.

Also, I'm sorry to hear about your 360. This shit is ridiculous,

Let us all take a moment to salute those machines that have succumbed to their red fate.
