I'm 23, and have been playing games since I was about 2 or 3 with the super old computer my dad got to bring home from working with the government. I got my NES when I was 5.

I love old school SNES RPGs, and I play pretty much anything now except sports games. I'll play FPSs, but typically not on consoles.

The greatest PSP peripheral ever created
Aerox | 1:01 PM on 05.09.2008 18 comments

As most people know, the PSP is a versatile handheld capable of doing many different things. Gaming, listening to music, watching movies, etc. There're just so many uses for it!

However, there's one thing that's always really frustrated me about it. I've never found a way to easily use it while I'm driving.

MY WAIT IS OVER.

That's right, the amazing folks over at gogamestuff.com have finally solved my PSP-while-driving related woes, and have come out with the single best peripheral in the history of video gaming.

THE PSP CAR HOLDER.

No longer do I have to cry during my entire morning commute because I can't watch movies, I can now attach this handy dandy car holder STRAIGHT TO MY WINDSHIELD so that I can get my entertainment fill while I'm driving. Think you have a boring commute? NOT ANYMORE!!!!

"“if you're a psp fan, what will you do when meeting traffic jam?angry?depressed? or just sit there? now, you can get better choice: watch moves to relax yourself via your psp with it tied to psp car holder gripping on your car windshield”" (I know English probably isn't their first language, but if you're going to put out a press release in English, you should make sure you know how to spell and use proper grammar.)

Unfortunately there are no pictures yet as it's not being released until Monday, but the description pretty much sums up what it is:

"Gogamestuff has added many PSP holders & docks to its products center recently, but this holder is specially for car owners,“Firmly stick on the windshield and could remove easily, with Quick release button for psp car holder extending its arm automatically, the flexible arm can be adjusted to any angle for easy viewing”, from its specification."

It comes with Quick release button for PSP car holder extending its arm automatically! It's everything I've ever dreamed of AND MORE!!!

Seriously, who the fuck thought this was a good idea AT ALL? The press release claims it's for use when you're "having to stop for a while" (BECAUSE HOLDING IT IS SO FUCKING HARD), but later on they say it's great for traffic jams. I'm pretty sure a giant flexible arm holding a PSP in your windshield is going to be pretty noticeable to the police after you've slammed your car into a van carrying a family of 6 because you got distracted while watching your pirated copy of Iron Man. Or does Hong Kong have special laws that allow you to view all of the $1 bootleg DVDs you can buy there in your car in order to keep the economy going?

Life is busy. I keep ending up drinking and going out to eat on Tuesdays instead of playing TFT and FNF, but I should be around tonight.

Also, Diablo has been sucking up a lot of my time. I love Diablo.

This is useless for me as I had my windshield converted into a flat-panel TV long ago. It has a picture-in-picture feed from my hood-mounted camera so I can check out the road every now and then.

You do know, that PSP gets GPS, so this actually does make sense.

I know, but the press release hypes it as a way to entertain yourself when you're in a traffic jam, "angry", or "depressed".

lol @ maxvest!

yeah it would be pretty usefull for the GPS-add-on, I've got one for in the car too, I mostly use it for when I'm driving some of my cousins somewhere so they can watch The Simpsons on the way and don't bother me :-)

Even with that, a windshield mount? I could see that justifying a dashboard mount, but not a windshield mount. Might as well tape a map to the windshield for all the visual impairment you'll have.

I wonder if this will attach to my bathroom mirror so I can watch while shaving... with a straight razor.

I know on my dad's Infiniti, he can watch DVDs on the built in screen, but not while the car is moving. I was like, at what point are you in your car, not moving, for long enough to watch a DVD? On a five inch screen, no less?

This along with those idiotic signs I keep seeing on people's cars:

"New Driver"

WTF? Either you can drive or you can't. It doesn't say anything in my state's driving manual that I should look for and avoid persons who are new to driving so as to not force them to obey the same laws I am forced to obey.

If you do this be careful, if I remember right front mounted screens that have the capability to playback movies are usually disable the movie when the car is moving and I believe watching a movie while driving is considered illegal in some/most states. I've got an in dash screen in one of my cars that I had a friend hook up so I could watch while driving, but if a cop sees it and takes issue he can pull you over and then find all that pot in your trunk.

Also didn't some basketball/football player get ticketed for an accident because he was having a wank when driving and watching porn on his screen? Could have sworn that happened a while back.

Also, good find.

You're absolutely right about the athlete getting in trouble, I can't remember who it was though.

Being a car nut I have a lot to say about this. First of all, most older and aftermarket front mounted screens do not disable automatically when the car is driving, unfortunately. Secondly, if your screen does disable, its not hard to snip a couple of wires to prevent that. Most aftermarket shops will do it for you for free I've heard.

My last point is expanding upon Dexter's point about his dads infiniti. I'd like to add that a lot of these cars with dvd systems are higher end cars some of which are designed for speed. I can't help but laugh when I see some guy at the local track with a car totally tricked out for racing, tires, headers, exhaust, suspension, turbo etc etc. and yet they also have 4 tv screens and a hot tub in the back. I've never understood why you'd put all that money into the speed of your car and then make it heavy as hell with useless and flashy electronics.

@Corak

Yeah for car dvd players (when installed legally) only work when the E-brake is on as you are not supposed to have a video infront of the driver. Behind the driver is totaly fine though.

They only work when your e-brake is on? According to Burnout Paradise, that should be... always.
