Left 4 Dead is already installed, but it still has to do that initial disc check. That's what gets me; once it reads though it's fine.

@ Craineum: Once the drive started acting weird, they picked up a new one to replace it. The one I'm borrowing pretty much lived in his son's room, and didn't get a ton of use.
