Hi! I'm Ian/4knuckleshuffle. I'm FIDEEN NOW BITCHES and your average stereotypical gamer. I like books, videogames, pen and paper RPGs, Warhammer 40,000, and other such indulgences. If this profile seems like my introductory post, that's because it is!
Avatar Origin: On my friend's forum, I changed my avatar one too many times, which pissed him off enough to set it to this and lock it. I've grown to like the image.

Does Anyone But Me Remember? #1: Chameleon Twist
4knuckleshuffle | 9:16 PM on 05.26.2008 14 comments

Does Anyone But Me Remember? is a feature of my CBlog that will continue if well liked. I'm going to go over games that I played that have fallen off modern gamer's radar. It's a hope of mine that I'll get you to play them.

Fucked Up Boxart

Chameleon Twist (Sunsoft, 06/12/97, K-A, N64):

Chameleon Twist was a 3d platformer in the vein of Mario 64, but unlike that, it was actually good. It was a cute platformer with new ideas, and an interesting mechanic. It had a fuxedup multiplayer mode, and a quirky asthetic. Did I mention that it was cute? It was poorly reviewed and forgotten by gamers. This alone makes me want to jump upon it and troll about it on internet forums until I explode from sheer douchiness.

Despite all that, it was not without its issues. It had graphics that were shitty even by N64 standards, and was not advertised at all. None. Zero. Amount of Advertising = Terry Schiavo's dance skills. It also was cute enough to make gamers heads asplode. Excessively cut and colourful.

Despite that shit, it was still a great game. The platforming was fun, and the story was perfectly fucked up. You should get your hands on a copy now. You'll never experience anything like it. Except for the sequel, but that's a story for another day.

Rating:

7/10

I enjoyed this game when I was younger, but I am sure it hasn't held up after all these years.

You thought Mario 64 was bad and this was good?

You are completely fucked in the head!

It probably hasn't held up, but then, what's nostalgia for?

@Skribble: I won't deny the fuxedness of my head, but I had an ulcer whilst playing Mario 64. That taints ones memories a little.

Just realized my post may have sounded mean; I didn't mean it to! I was just illustrating the complete upsidedownfaceness of your love for a subpar platforming game with a fun mechanic over an entirely complete and fun platforming game that is quite obviously the better choice. <3

If you like platform games you should -love- mario64, it pretty much defined 3D platform games.

I bought 20 copies of this from a distributor friend and traded them all in to the same EB to get money off a Gamecube (worked out well in my favour).
