I made a alpha version of this 2D shooter, Terminal2D, it's one level long by now and it's pretty simple but I'm new to game design and those are exercises, created with unity3d and blender for the 3D models, and ableton live for the music.

Please feel free to test it and throw some feedback, how will you improve it ? expand it ? etc ? what's working and what's not. Add your comment here or on my blog:http://www.mplabs.net.

Nice stuff!

One problem I found is that the hitbox on the ship is too big for the enemy shot patterns you have. There is often little way to fit in between a spread of shots even when that seems like the best way to avoid damage. Maybe you can make the hitbox smaller or the spread wider. Or perhaps a different mechanic to avoid damage (a sheild, reflector, ect).

Enemies track the ship pretty fast, maybe too fast. Trying to avoid a mass of ships by flying over one end of the playing feild to appear on the other doesn't gain you much since the enemies all whip around instantly.
