We got a new law in my homecountry. According to this law, Killergames are now illigal to own
for minors. There's no exact definition of Killergames, but who cares. And since I'm no minor,
I can't be really bothered that it's now a little harder for me to get my Call of Duty's and
Halo's. I import anyways.

But what does bother me, is the fact that violent games are now essentially on the same level
as porn, guns, alcohol and smokes. And the "new media", like Websites and Blogs, can now
be shut down too, if they show "material that is harmfull to the youth". Good times.

And all for the sake of those damn politics, who just want to cop out of dealing with the real
issues we have with the youth in this country. Instead they say: "Once we locked away all
those evil video games everything will be fine."

So what next? Do I need to cover the new Call of Duty in a brown bag when I leave the store?

lol
no carrying violent video games or booze in public!
ACTIVATE BROWN PAPER BAG!
God, imagine if they had a no violent games in public rule. How hard would it suck to get busted for playing God of War on your PSP?
[Insert Nazi joke here]
Oh, gawd. And I'm going over there with my laptop in a few days, loaded to the brim with such foul and iniquitous indulgences as Call of Duty 4 and -gasp- TEAM FORTRESS 2!

Whatever shall happen to my poor, corrupted soul? Fucking daft Germans.
i lolled :D
Germany - Covering up their nazism since 1946.
Will The Netherlands follow? If the answer is yes I'll move to Japan (to get stabbed).
HA! HA! Faschism!
So there's a good chance Germany could block Destructoid and other gaming sites for simply talking about these "kiler games"?
Seriously, German youth should do like the French and protest in the streets.
Though of course, the car burnings would probably be blamed on "killer games"... Forget what I said!

Why should the younger generation have to suffer from stupid fossils who are trying to cover up for their sins? Its insane!
LEARN from the past, dont HIDE it!
That's a good question Nihontiger. It's a long shot, but it's still possible. Maybe they are crazy enough to do that. Since they also get media on the Index that isn't officialy released in germany. (Man, am I glad to be allowed to say Gears of War here.)
Its more fearmonger legislation, the same kind that actually seething its way into the U.K too, so we of a legal adult can't enjoy anything anymore.

Germany, you guys really have to get over your war guilt. I know its hard but you'll never progress as a nation, if you remain in fear of everything in popular media you don't understand.

Sure, keep the games, film etc out of kids hands, but do it the fair way, by asking for legal ID and giving adult material warnings, when selling games.

Bans can easily be circumvented by importing, as we all already know.
I might be coming from left field, but I say fuck it. I think we should massively ban all violent videogames right here, and right now. Record this day down, with the legislation that actually passes the law. And finally after a year or so, when no more violent games are around, and some kids shoot up a school, we can play the tape world wide, over every station, with a scroll at the bottom saying "but we banned violent videogames!"
@Cowboy ttop: We already have all that shit. We have a working rating system. Every violent game that is released here is cut in some way! But the media and the politics are still up in arms about it.
