3DS Friday Night Fights: Only Show In Town Edition

Welcome to the only portable show on this block! It's been a news-filled week for 3DS owners, with
lots of new game announcements, some slightly older remakes and newly western releases, DLC for a Mario game, and even some new hardware choices for our Eastern friends. That's a lot of stuff! Oh and don't forget the newly digitized versions of popular games coming with a free copy of Donkey Kong. In case you're wondering, "why," it's the original version of DK, which has never been available in the states. Weird, but cool, I guess.

Anyway. grab that 3DS and put it to good use by playing games with us!

Off-campus contest:
The lovely folks over at NintendoFuse will be running a Mariokart 7 tournament that begins October 27th. The prizes are awesome, (especially if you're a Nintendo fan) and include a Wii U console, Sonic All-stars Racing 2, and New Super Mario Bros. U. So get to practicing with us. Link here.

In case you're new to Friday Night Fights, I'll sum it up: It's basically a bunch of Dtoiders getting together to play some games. Pretty simple stuff. If someone has a game that they want to play online with others, it can be posted here or in this blog. That's the easiest way to get a game going. Now, I'm talking about ANYONE. If you have something you want to play, let me or Wolfy-Boey know, and we'll put it in the blog and the forum. Cake.

Just do it like this:

Game: Name of the game.
Host: Your Dtoid username/Twitter.
Friend Code: It's just easier to exchange friend codes.
Time: EST (Eastern Standard Time) Is the...standard around here.

You can exchange Friend codes here, or here.

Tonight's EXCLUSIVELY portable fightans:

Game: Mariokart 7
Time: 8:00 P.M. EST

FOR MARIO KART 7 PLAYERS: When playing Mario Kart 7 we will be using community feature to play together. To join us, simply enter the Dtoid community code (For races: 43-8816-8269-4512 OR 22-4755-7110-5555) and wait in the group. Please try to be patient and wait for other players, as once a Grand Prix starts players cannot join until the entire tournament is finished. Each group can only have up to eight players, but there can be an infinite amount of groups playing at one time in each community. Now, before you try to join a group check how many groups are playing already. If you see one or groups playing, but when you join everything is empty, then the match has already begun. Try leaving and then joining again in a few minutes. An easier way to do all this is to exchange friend codes and spam the "Join Game" feature on your friend list.

Everything is simply easier when your on our friend's list. So much easier.

3DS Friday Night Fights: Gangnam Style Edition

*Standing over his fireplace, smurfee mcgee removes his hand from the mantle and turns as he hears your footsteps. The tired eyes of this husk look into your depths effortlessly. Oh, this? This is the 3DS. It has ...*he smirks*...games. We can play them together if you wish.

Also, contests.

3DS Friday Night Fights: PAX is Canceled Edition

A note: The front page FNF post is most likely wrong about times and games. Andy (reportedly) broke his glass eye with his boner last night. Sorry about the confusion.

That's correct: PAX has been canceled by The Anti-Pax Party. A wonderful group indeed. They have deemed it lame in light of certain members of Destructoid not attending. You know the ones. Yes, those ones. It's a shame, but those are the rules. Everyone back on the bus. You will unfortunately not be refunded for sack lunches. If you have any questions or concerns please contact customer service at the number provided underneath your seats.

Also, forgive the brevity. Busy busy.

3DS Friday Night Fights: Placeholder Replaced Edition

It's that special time of the week again, where people sloppily plan to play games together and then their console dies, or a hurricane cock-blox the power. Good times. No big changes in the schedule this week, though I hear you can get your 3DS Super-sized. Have any of you done that? What do you think of it? Can I play Game & Watch real big-like?

In any case, come play some games together on that 3-Dual-Screen if that makes any sense. (It doesn't) At least here, $30 for a Final Fantasy game is up-front and you can play Monster Hunter properly.

3DS Friday Night Fights: Overpriced Digital Edition

It's Friday! That means...something! Are you ready to Friday? Why or why not? I want a 250-word paper by noon Saturday on whether or not you were ready to Friday, with well-explained reasons. If you skip this assignment, you will be dropped a whole grade. Those whom already have an "F" will be demoted to janitors for a day.

Now that that's out of the way, it's time for all the handheld biz. In 2 days New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be coming out, along with a new 3DS model: The XL. NSMB2 looks alright, but it's the first one in awhile that I won't be getting at launch. It just isn't doing it for me. I was almost sold when they revealed "coin-rush mode," but it turns out that there aren't online leaderboards. That could have been a brilliant way to keep people playing and buying DLC, and it's such a seemingly simple thing.
UGH.
Oh; almost forgot: With Nintendo finally entering the digital space in a more modern manner, it's going to be offering this game from the eShop on launch day. Cool, maybe, but it's the same price as retail so...it's all about convenience (which is actually important) and them shiny Club Nintendo coins. You do get double the coins, y'now. Oh, but that cool gold nunchuck is already sold out. So...
I'm interested to see how this first big digital release goes. My sympathies if you aren't in the U.S., as Nintendo, as well as many others, seems to enjoy charging as much as they want in other regions.
But hey: if NSMB2 is closer to its DS predecessor than its big Wii brother, then it's not a huge loss anyway.

3DS Friday Night Fights: Frogs Are Kewl Edition

So I heard that frogs are the future. This morning, a video about pretty future frogs was put up, and shows off what CryEngine3 can do with frogs. It's real pretty, and I'm now quite excited for a new sequel to Space Station Silicon Valley. I will definitely seek out the frogs.
I'm no frog expert, but I can say that Crytek has definitely captured the frog accurately in all its Froglory. If there are any frog enthusiasts on Dtoid, I'm sure they're pretty pumped right now.
Frogs are so cool. What fascinating, ribbiting creatures.

3DS Friday Night Fights: Quick Lazy Port Edition

Good Friday, good people. Not...that particular one, just...it's a particularly nice Friday today and so...never mind. Suck it. Come get your schedule that the 3 of you want to see so you can play with each other.

This week we once again have Heroes of Ruin on the schedule, for anyone eager to try out some co-op hacking and maybe slashing. I hear there's also a whole bunch of loot.

Now excuse me while I copypaste like a pro.

Do you feel like doing some co-op dungeon crawling? Cus you are so covered. Tonight, the boey who happens to be wolfy will be bringing in Heroes of Ruin for its Friday Night Fights debut. It's got loot and magic and what's this? Voice chat! That's new! For...some. I won't complain about Nintendo taking some steps forward. Anyway, it's always cool when a new game gets thrown into the rotation.

So let's do deets.

The evening's Heroes:

Game: Heroes Of Ruin
Time: 8:00 PM EST
Host: Wolfy-Boey, Friend Code: 5327-1072-2012
Twitter: @Wolfy_Boey (If you go by a different name on twitter, please inform me. Thank you.

Game: Mario Tennis Open
Time: 10:00 PM EST
Host: smurfee_mcgee Friend Code: 5284-1410-9454
Twitter: @smurfee_mcgee

*I will also do MK7 and Kid Icarus if there is interest.*

FOR MARIO KART 7 PLAYERS: When playing Mario Kart 7 we will be using community feature to play together. To join us, simply enter the Dtoid community code (For races: 43-8816-8269-4512) and wait in the group. An easier way to do all this is to exchange friend codes and spam the "Join Game" feature on your fiend list.

3DS Friday Night Fights: The Gift of G0bun

I've seen some convincing goddamn photoshops in my day, but this one takes the cake. The birthday cake. Because it's G0bun's birthday. This picture steals his cake. Stop this picture by any means necessary. Even if you have to shoot it.

Did you know that it's G0bun's B-day?? Oh; you do? Because of that other lame-ass FNF blog? Well...whateber. That's right. Whateber.
Poor sick G0bun only wants one thing for his special day: drawings of himself. Because of his terminal narcissystic fibr0sis from all his pose-smoking, he has to rest and cannot draw. Won't you make his last birthday this year count?

3DS Friday Night! Fights

Issat time again. What have you been doing with your 3DS this week? Sitting on it? Have you played the Heroes of Ruin demo yet? Did you get anything from the eShop?
Oh, me? I finally picked up Colors! 3D and boy, is it great. I'm not skilled at drawing or painting, but that doesn't stop me from trying. My hands get crampy, but it is so much fun.
Colors! 3D has got tons of options, and one of the coolest features is the ability to watch people's entire processes on the gallery. You can see exactly how they're doing things and it really helps if you have no technique (Like me.) It's actually a really great application for only 7 bucks.

Unfortunately, Colors! 3D doesn't have online multiplayer, where we Dtoiders could surely revolutionize #Art. One can dream...
Oh well. Let's stick to the online stuff:

Now that is cool. Colors! 3D can do neat stuff. You should see it in 3D.
