The Obscure Arcade : Metamorphic Force
Year : 1993 Company : Konami Similar To : X-Men arcade
Title screen. Metamorphic Force is your standard side scrolling beat ‘em up, which looks, and plays, extremely similar to Konami’s ‘92 X-men arcade beat ‘em up. The art style, animations, and gameplay are almost identical. The hook here is that you can “morph” into a were-animal.
Athena's four champions. You select from four characters, but each plays exactly the same. Ban - an Asian guy who looks like Goro Daimon from KOF - turns into a bull Claude - a French guy who wields a sword - turns into a white wolf Max - an American boxer - turns into a black panther Ivan - a Russian guy who wields a LOG - turns into a…..wait for it.....BEAR!
Claude fighting some furries. Limited to two buttons, attack & jump, you will face off against a variety of anthropomorphic beasts. Including, but not limited to, lizards, frogs, hedgehogs, and elephants. Combine that with the playable character’s beast modes, and you have what is basically a furry’s wet dream.
The Golden Axe potion guy's big brother. One of my favorite parts of this game is what appears to be a parody of Golden Axe’s potion carrying elf / gnome / whatever the fuck. When you smack him upside the head, he drops an Athena Statue. When you pick this up, you morph into your beast form.
Max saying "OMG what the hell is that?!"
Pink Elf Demon offers herself.
Claude celebrates his successful rape. On Stage 5, you face off against some weird ass, pink, elf, devil woman; who apparently offers herself to you sexually. If you can figure out what sort of beast hybrid she is, please let me know.
Ivan, his log, and the power up guy face the cheap ass last boss.
Max faces the 2nd form of the Final Boss. The Final Boss is cheap as fuck, as you would expect him to be. Assuming not one, not two, but THREE forms before you finally defeat him.
Ivan skull fucks a pink lizard guy. All in all, if you like side scrolling beat ‘em ups, you’ll get a good 45 to 60 minutes of enjoyment out of this. A few good laughs, definitely. But, it’s nothing special. It kept me entertained for an hour or so, but I probably won't ever go back to it. ---------------------------------------- Would you guys like me to feature other obscure arcade games? Let me know! I already have several others lined up.

I thought I was an expert on obscure Arcade games, with "The Great Ragtime show", "I'm Sorry", and "Osmon/CannonDancer" being a few favorites just off the top of my head. But I'd never heard of this game. An Altered Beast/Golden Axe hybrid? Totally radical.
I want it.
