The single-player aspect of StarCraft II was honestly one of the more intriguing elements shown off at this year's Blizzcon. Thanks to Gamevideos you can watch the entire live demonstration by Blizzard's VP of Game Design Rob Pardo for yourself. Since the Zerg have yet to be unveiled, this video is unfortunately sans Kerrigan. Instead you will see how the mission briefings, open-ended storyline and game progression will work for the Terrans.

Hit the jump for the second half of the demonstration.

I'm one of the kids who has never played Starcraft before.

I feel like a bastard child after that video.

Dammit, all of the editors are changing their names. When will I get to be Agent "Asian Beef Man" Chieftain?

It just didn't do it for me. While this whole thing seems pretty mediocre right now I trust Blizzard will develop it further into something interesting.

Bruce, literally ever five seconds there was thunderous applause the entire freaking weekend.

Still, it must be nice to stand up and have thousands of people cheer at everything you say.

william, they don't discern between what is actually cool or not, the fantasy of it all has been engrained to the point of being a robotic reaction, afterall that is what you need to have when you're playing an MMO where success is determined by how long you can grind.

I wish I didn't suck at Starcraft. I would be more excited.

Wow, I think I would find that whole silly bridge mechanism really annoying. Can't I just play Starcraft? This looks like a pretty convoluted way to do cut scenes.

Furniss, actually you can just skip most of the story if you want and get to all the good stuff, but I personally welcome the cinematic approach they're taking.

I really only play StarCraft for the plot and Kerrigan anyway...

yeah, you dont have to to talk to anyone in between the mission, just like you could click accept and skip the transmissions in the first one.

When Starcraft 2 was announced, I said, "Meh." Now it's more of an intrigued, "Eh?"

Gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with the steps they're taking to make Starcraft 2 a more in-depth experience.

This is fantastic. I wasn't very much compelled to play the campaign mode in the first Star Craft, but this makes things much more worthwhile to me.

Dammit, now I'll have to read up on lore to understand what the hell's going on with the story.

Not a fan of the graphics change. Looks more like WoW and I have seen enough of that style of art to last a LONG time.
