Blizzard to offer World of Warcraft faction swapping service photo

Rejoice! A faction swapping service is coming to World of Warcraft. Details and development haven’t been finalized, but Blizzard community manager “Nethaera” said that the service would function how we imagined: a player chooses a character he or she wants swapped and the game will spit out a comparable opposite-faction version of it. Nice.

Nathaera went on to add that the swapping service will be regulated in a way that won’t interfere with stuff going on in a given realm and, naturally, players will have to abide by the rules attached to it. Figuring out how to control the service without causing a mess will be the challenge as well as the reason why it may take a bit to implement.

“The number of variables involved increases the complexity of implementing this service,” Nathaera said in a message board posting, “but we plan to take the time needed to ensure that it lives up to expectations before officially rolling it out.”

As Nathaera mentions in the opening of her blockbuster post, this service is something fans have been asking about for the last two billion years. We haven't asked for it yet because we're still trying to get helicopters added. We don't want to seem greedy or anything.

[Update: Perhaps this is why Blizzard never answered my e-mails about helicopters. They're already in the game. World of Warcraft is the best thing ever created; confirmed. Thanks for the heads up, guys. Mind giving me a 'copter?

Actually, there are already helicopters in WoW. I remember how excited my wife was when she got her helicopter mount. It's sort of steampunk inspired or something.

I remember this because I told her to STFU so she didn't wake the kids. That was a bad night.

EternalDeathSlayer is right. Sorry to disappoint you, Chet, but there already are helicopters in WoW.

I figure that this is the final nail in the coffin for making actual important decisions in the game. I'm glad I quit that shit when I did.

I still think they are going to offer paid leveling service next. Pay $20 and instantly go to level 70 or 80. Right now it's less World of Warcraft, and more World of Deathknights since they all start at level 55 and are considerably easier to get to the max level.

I'm currently playing WoW, and the only reason I am is because all of my friends play it... if I had my choice, it'd be Warhammer Online. WAR has been the more fun of the two games despite WoW having more content.

I've got a helicopter, and a mechanical chicken mount!!

Too bad I don't have a motorcycle yet though.

Engineering is my jam.

@Exquisitor:

Haha. That's pretty pathetic. Is it really a game if you have to pay someone else to play it for you?

WoW players are suckers.

The helicopter has a hula girl in it. This is an important point, as it won't run without it.

I don't understand how this works. If I switch my character from Alliance to Horde, does my Dwarf turn into an Orc or what?

@mrplow More or less. Based on your class and race, I understand that they'll be choosing a race for you.

Pallys going to Horde from Alliance, regardless of race, will most likely have to be Blood Elves.

I kind of wish other MMOs were fun sometimes.
