Blizzard's plans for the next five years leaked online photo

MMO overlord Blizzard may have dominance over the market, but it can't control its own secret documents. Blizzard's plans for the next five years have recently leaked online, revealing expansions for StarCraft II and Diablo III, as well as the name of a brand new game, Titan

According to the leak, Diablo III will release in the fourth quarter of 2011, at the same time StarCraft II gets an expansion and the Phoenix campaign. Another StarCraft expansion will arrive in 2013, and new expansions for Diablo III are planned in both 2013 and 2014.

The long-awaited World of Warcraft movie is slated for the fourth quarter of 2012 while a new WoW expansion will hit in Q2 of the same year. Yet another expansion will pop along in Q4 of 2013.

All this is bookended by Titan, a game about which we know nothing. Popular opinion claims it will be a brand new MMO, but I guess we'll have to wait until we're closer to Q4 2013, when the game's due to launch.

So that's a lot of stuff for you to think about.

Wow, more WoW is coming than I anticipated.

Also, way too long for the entire SC2 story to come out....

Yeah, but knowing Blizzard, these dates will probably slip by a little bit. Still, I can't believe we won't get the final Starcraft expansion until 2013... o.o

Anyone who follows Blizzard would have been able to tell you about the expansions for WoW, and for StarCraft to a lesser extent. That being said, Blizzard are like Valves anti-thesis, in the fact that they'll have a release target internally, but they won't announce a date publicly unless they know there's no way they can miss it. Valve on the other hand, give a date when they announce it and then throw it back months at a time.

So there's a chance they might actually make a good game eventually? Nah, not likely.

@Wedge: Decent build-up but no follow through. 2.6/10

Diablo 3 is a thing that lives behind my eyes.

Blizzard couldn't possibly keep that schedule. Add a years to each of those dates and it might be more accurate. MIGHT be more accurate.

I think the most interesting entry is "BNET23RDPARTIES". Is Blizzard setting up BattleNET to compete with Steam?

It's neat until you realize that Blizzard is absolutely notorious for missing these sorts of release date projections.

will this potentially damaging leak change the timelines for any games and can expect entirely new approaches/games now as a result? I guess it would seem almost illogical to think that a leak, that would eventually let slip anyways, change anything drastically because time is money and the ideas are already on the table, but still, a man can dream can't he?

I want Warcraft 4. I enjoyed Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne's campaigns more than the entirety of WoW, and with the insistance of killing off all the big bads (I am assuming the next WoW expansion will have raids killing Sargeras or something ridiculous), there is going to be nothing left for a new game. Plus they seem content for WoW to just be an MMO IP, and Starcraft to be their RTS IP. And I just don't enjoy Starcraft's campaigns as much, they are like diluted W40K.

I am looking forward to Diablo III and its expansions though.

Games that aren't RTS', MMOs, or RPGs that get boring after a few hours 8). Not my fault Blizzard has only made the kinds of games I hate so far. To be fair I love the Lost Vikings, and Diablo 1 is kind of fun just because it's fairly short at least. Couldn't get past halfway through Act II without being bored to death by Diablo II though, and everything else is RTS and MMO...

What you need to understand Wedge is that if a game is good or not is decided by popular demand. And then if it's a game YOU don't happen to like, you're just going to have to live with it. Now where's my Warcraft IV?!?

I thank myself for being smart enough to have only bought Burning Crusade. Destroying my epics every 1-2 years over greens, lvling 4-5 chars and then farming gear all over again for the lot of them to enjoy endgame content is not my idea of fun. This game is solely driven by greed nowadays, instead of having a progression curve like one did in Classic when they introduced NAXX and such, which you could then access and try to beat after getting your gear from MC, ZG and BWL and continuing progressing on top of that gradually, they totally disrespected that mass of players by introducing the first expansion and continue to do that with every new one. It's completely ridiculous to have to pay for expansions when you're already dishing out 13€ a month and no other game does that. You either have the Guild Wars scheme, f2p as long as you buy the expnasions, or the typical monthly fee game and that should more than cover the gradual improvement and expansion of the game. As for Cataclysm I can't even see where the Cataclysm is, I saw some before and after images of the areas they changed and saw a complete lack of destruction, besides that flooded area which name I can't remember and the improvement of SW and Org (and flooding an area from a 3d developer's point of view is something they do in what, 5 minutes?). It's hard to believe there's even people paying for minipets, race changes and the like, that lot surely doesn't work for their money, do they? Well... I guess the community gets what it deserves, if we had taken a stand a long time ago they'd have changed their ways but since everyone keeps dishing out the dollars and euros they'll just keep it up. Regarding Starcraft I downloaded some leaked beta and uninstalled it after one day (RTS is not my thing anyway), Diablo III I'm looking forward to give it a shot, if the online multiplayer is worth it I may consider paying for it.

So I'm sure a lot of people out there in rumor land love to use the old adage "I know a guy who knows a guy in blizzard"

But in this case its true, from what he was willing to say about that mystery title, I'm guessing that's what "Titan" is:
the guy said he couldn't comment on what they're working on really, suffice to say he is involved and that its something completely new and different from whatever everyone else is doing/has done, its an mmo, graphics will be realistic in design (meaning not WoW cartoon style), its gonna blow peoples minds, and that it isn't WoW part 2, rather a complete break away and independent of WoW's design, and lastly, that if he said anything more Vivendi would probably murder him and cover it up (thats a joke folks) lol

Not much I know, but it's legit, and I hope it feeds your appetites, if not leaving you just more anxious.

"Diablo III will release in the fourth quarter of 2011, at the same time StarCraft II gets an expansion and the Phoenix campaign." (from the leak)

4th quarter fiscally is 2012. We could still be on for that to be true. And hell it guessed the dev name of the mmo correctly so there has to be something in it.
