Blizzard meets board games in new Monopoly and Risk
In the last few years, videogame themed board games seem to have found a market; whether it be for the hardcore fan of the series or the avid board game collector. During the 109th New York Toy Fair this past weekend, USAopoly have announced two new editions of Monopoly and RISK centered around two distinct Blizzard universes. Monopoly: World of Warcraft will take players all around Azeroth, from the Twilight Highlands to the Swamp of Sorrows, looking to take as much land as their gold will get them. Players can even take control of faction capitals like the orcish city of Orgimmar and the human kingdom of Stormwind. USAopoly is also holding a FaceBook poll for which six tokens should appear in the final game. Monopoly: World of Warcraft will be appearing in stores this May and retailing for $39.95. RISK: StarCraft will allow players to choose from the iconic three races of Terran, Protoss or Zerg to see who can claim control of the Koprulu Sector. The game boasts over 290 custom designed pieces, along with three different game modes. RISK: StarcCraft will be releasing some time this summer, at the price tag of $49.45. I would be interested to see any other board game spin offs based on Blizzard franchises. Anyone else up for some CLUE: Diablo III Edition? Did you know? If you chose anything other than "Doomhammer" you are either A) Alliance B) A flaming homosexual C) Both. @Achro - I thought the same thing initially, but I think it boils down to neither of the games fit Monopoly very well. WoW and Statecraft are both great for Risk because of their focus on faction warfare, where Diablo 3 might be a better choice for Monopoly or Life dye to its singular character focus. If it was WoW being turned into RISK, they'd already have my money. A recognizable map is what makes RISK fun for me, which is why Lord of the Rings risk and Halo risk are still half as fun as the original. I'll wait to see how the Starcraft map looks, but i have a strong feeling it's going to be a disjointed mess like Halo Risk. 8:00 PM on 05.16.2013 Diablo III uses the PlayStation 4 touchpad for inventoryIn this video, Blizzard describes the work that's been gone into tweaking Diablo III for console gamers.
