Blink 182 DLC hits Rocksmith

Blink 182 DLC hits Rocksmith photo

Blink 182 DLC is now available for download for Rocksmith. The pack includes "Dammit", "What's My Age Again?" and "All the Small Things", I presume those are the "good" ones. Each track can be purchased individually for $2.99 on PSN or 240 MS points on XBL.

Good news for fans, I suppose, business as usual for the rest of you.

In a game where guitar is the sole purpose, picking a band with kind of memorable riffs but no challenge is antithetical to the original design brief. Except for What's My Age Again?, which is pretty cool all things considered.

Those songs are terrible for a game like this. (And that's coming from a guy who owns the albums these songs came from.)

I don't have Rocksmith, but if I did, I would have wanted Stay together for the kids and Adam's Song. Oh, Well.

"Dammit, What's My Age Again?" asked the man buying Blink 182 DLC for Rocksmith.

I Miss You is their best song by far.

@Andy and Lowlander

I have to disagree about it defeating the point. The main selling point of Rocksmith is that it can teach you to play. It sounds kind of obvious, but a big part of learning to play is getting the idea in your head that it's possible to play guitar. A lot of people I know think that musical ability is a binary "you have it or you don't" thing, and an easy to play, recognizable song goes a long way towards convincing them that anyone can play practice.

My roommate loves Radiohead, so as soon as he first tried the game, he went straight for Bodysnatchers. He had never touched a guitar in his life, and it's a fairly complex riff, so he obviously didn't sound anything like the song, and was having a lot of trouble progressing to the point where he would sound good. Then he started trying the career mode, and the first song to come up was Next Girl by Black Keys, which is really easy, but a memorable riff. As soon as he first got the riff down completely, he got really into the game. Starting with an easy song made it a lot easier to get the idea into his head that it was possible to play guitar like the bands he listened to.

Really enjoying Rocksmith, but Blink 182? Never heard of 'em. They should poll their gamers... I'd bet the "average" Rocksmith gamer is older. I'm 40, and so far most other Rocksmith players I've seen online/IRL are all in my age range or even older.

Umm Yeah... 40% of the players are 40-50. (~80% 30-50) They need to be aware of this dynamic when rolling out the DLC. The songs I enjoy the most are obviously the ones I already know. (I had never even HEARD of the Black Keys before playing this game. Yeah, I'm OLD.)

FYI.... if you like Rocksmith or DON'T like, but want to spend less than offered in a random web search of software and usb cables for your electric or 1/4'' pickup acoustic you can ..... works well with Apple GarageBand (i've a '06 Macbook with LION and up to-date software) ....ssshhh. don't tell... also you may have to change the input option to the specific cable via usb. the garageband tuner is a bit more precise so a bit of off tuning but works the same as if plunged into my X-box 360 and garageband lets me record what i'm playing unlike Rocksmith which doesnt' have that option.... got to hand it to UbiSoft for the great and Educational game for learning/playing the guitar. A great selection of DLC (downloadable content) with new songs every 2 weeks or so (i haven't been keeping track). Also purchasing DLC songs via xbox live marketplace and playing on the xbox much more cost effective than the 4.99 garageband learn from the artist individual songs... tho not putting the service down just pointing out the cost savings between the two. (240 MS points is about $2.99 per song) with savings in "pack sales" like the 3 pack Blink 182 for 640 makes each song about 213 MS points saving about 40 cents per song. {oh yea me ranting away waiting till midnight for a new 3 "pack" release for Rocksmith which will have Evanescence, Maroon 5, and Pumped up Kids.... more than likely sold separate like the 3 "Blues song pack" which included The Blues Brothers, B. B. King and Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan great selection of blues even without the "pack" savings
