Bless the rains: Afrika coming in August?

     Afrika

Everything I've ever seen of the PS3 safari sim Afrika looks incredible. Granted, I still have no idea what gameplay will be like in this title, but it looks great enough that I find myself drawn to it. I'm hoping it will be a high-definition adaptation of the Pokemon Snap formula. Stop laughing.

While we still have no official word on release, Play-Asia is saying that Afrika will be released on August 28th. This rumor comes to us by way of Siliconera, who says that the importer also managed to nail down the date of Initial D: Special Stage before anyone else.

Of course, there's always the chance that this could turn out to be totally wrong. We'll mark it as a rumor and continue to remain hopeful.

One thing's for sure: this PS3 game will definitely be better than the 1980s hit song "Africa" by rock band Toto. The song is sh*t and the words make no sense at all. This song also ranks in my top ten list of the worst instrumental solos ever to be recorded!

That's all I can imagine, a high definition Pokemon Snap. I can't exactly dismiss the game cause I don't know anything about it.

This reminded me of how much I want a new pokemon snap game. Africk sounds cool, but I kind of enjoy photographing pokemon more then real animals.

musically and harmonically, that song is actually quite good and varied. The issue is, I think, an unfortunate use of terribly synthesized instrumentation.

Antlerbot, harmonically it's very strong. Melodically, not so much. The rhythmic patterns in the melody are good, but the melodic repetition makes it somewhat unexciting. It doesn't parallel the determination pointed at in the horrible lyrics. And I agree, the synths suck.

You mean we still have no idea what this game is about? Jesus, it's been two years since it was unveiled! Are they planning on selling it on graphics alone? Oh, they probably are....

If this game is successful, Nintendo might make a new Pokemon Snap!

Hahaha, as soon as I scrolled to this post and saw the YouTube video, I knew that it was going to be of Toto’s “Africa”.

I thought this was going to be about Toto songs coming to Rock Band or something and now am infinitely disappointed.

IMO its in the top ten best love songs, right next to "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Higher Love". But the song by itself sounds awkward.

Any band with janet reno/stephen king on percussion is ok in my book.

Anyway, I've always wanted to pelt gazelles and tigers with pester balls, so this might finally be my chance.

That's actually a well-crafted and inspired song.

Why not trash bland dreck like Britney Spears instead of trashing good songwriting?

Great vocals on this track... the harmonies on the chorus are classic. The modulations in this song are also very nice. Nice to hear hear a pop hit with some harmonic movement instead of a static drone once in awhile.

You forgot to add the video is fucking stupid too, from the repeated showing of Africa on the globe for those who don't know where it is to the guy on keyboard who looks and acts like he has fetal alcohol syndrome.

Um, Africa by Toto is awesome. Who do you think you are, some kind of musician for a semi popular video game cover band?
