2D fighting game Blazblue is selling more copies on the PS3 than the Xbox 360. This has been undeniably proven by Amazon, where the game is currently selling much faster on Blu-ray than on your bog-standard, average, scummy Xbox DVD. The console wars are officially over, with PlayStation declared the winner. Microsoft is expected to hand Sony a gleaming winner's trophy this Sunday evening in a grand coronation ceremony.
Sarcasm aside, a number of reasons have been put forth as to why Blazblue might be selling more on the PS3. The Xbox 360's ridiculously Godawful D-Pad is one such explanation, as is Blazblue's implementation of PSP remote play on the PS3 version. It's also been supposed that Blazblue's lack of a region lock might also be tempting.
The most interesting theory is one suggested by developer Aksys. The studio believes that many hardcore fighter players want to face off against Japanese rivals, and that most Japanese Blazblue players will be found on the PS3 and not the Xbox 360. It's an intriguing idea, and given the obsessive and tenacious nature of hardcore fighter fans, it's one that sounds incredibly plausible.
I'm no fighting game player, but I know if I was, I'd go for the one with more features and a non-sh*t D-pad. That would appear to be the PS3 version in this case.
Of course, Amazon isn't a solid indicator of legitimate sales figures and is generally just used for petty points-scoring on the fanboy battlefield. With that in mind, my usual cadre of PS3-loving trolls who whine and moan about anti-Sony bias can feel free to knock themselves out over this particular "victory."
The only game I've ever bought retail, paid delivery, customs levies and import tax and STILL felt like I've somehow ripped off the developers. So good..
Also BIASBLUE might be the best header image in a while.
lol
anyway... I'd have to agree with the d-pad suggestion. I bought UMK3 on XBLA and its nearly unplayable on the xbox pad... *le sigh* I'm just glad I didn't buy a real fighting game for it only to get screwed over O_O
It's a shame that us Europeans have to resort to importing, but whaddya gonna do?
Eventually, I'd love to have the entire collection of: SF4, SF2HDR, MvC2, BlazBlue, King of Fighters XII.
I'm looking to build a custom stick out of a PS2 controller (or cannibalized USB stick) and some high-quality stick parts, so PS3 is the way to go for me.
But i'm "uberly" dissapointed in the inFAMOUS vs Prototype sells.
Prototype is bad and sells more, inFAMOUS is a pure gem and sells less, Even just on the 360 (not counting Prototype's PS3 sells) Prototype sold 591,393 in 3 weeks.
inFAMOUS sold 596,088... in 6 weeks !!!
Xbox's making money off mindless 11 years old.
Now I'm starting to think your post was too.
goddam dtoid making me think!
Now if only this game could only get a UK release or Sony dropped the price of the PS3 (I refuse to pay £300) so I could import it. Either way I think I'm asking for miracles.
Personally I think the d-pads on both the PS3 and 360 are complete shit because I’ve been spoilt by the perfection of the Sega Saturn controller. The PS3’s split d-pad it awful for rolling your thumb around and the 360’s d-pad is an unresponsive mess. I recommend that every 360 owner sands down the plastic surrounding the d-pad to help fix the problem, I can’t understand why Microsoft have never fixed this.
@Otomiruninja: You are fucking stupid.
Your a poor excuse for a gamer. BlazBlue smashes that stupid ass Team Ninja fighting game.
Most people that buy BlazBlue are tournament fighting game players, and all official EVO tourneys are held on PS3. The reason for this is that most tourney players have arcade sticks for PS2, and converters are easy to use and pretty cheap.
In my experience the piracy was even worse on the PS1 and PS2, I'm not exaggerating when I say 90% of PS1 and PS2 owners I knew had modded consoles.
Yes your a fucking idiot for liking DOA4 over BlazBlue. Whats with the sucking sony's cock thing? Where in the fuck did that come from asshole?
Did you come here from Joystiq? You remind me of a troll over there.
Don't bring your Prototype vs Infamous shit in here. Can't PS3 fanboys just let that die? Damn.
This game looks awesome but I don't know if I'd get it on my 360, simply because (as indicated) the dpad is so freaking horrible. I like the 360 controller better overall than the Duel Shock 3, but the horrid d-pad gives you a severe handicap in most fighting games.
That being said, I'll be buying this game once the price goes down. Which, I bet, will be pretty fast for the 360 version.
I can also understand why people like DoA4 a lot better. That counter system they got is just too much fun.
Way too much fun. And it's hard.
OF COURSE is going to sell more on the PS3.
shut up man. when you start making jack of no trades look like less of an asshole than you it's time to stop commenting.
@ Inmortal2k9
IMO the 360 d-pad will never be truly fixed. as long as it's a round thing it just won't feel right to me even if it is more responsive.
You win.
I totally understand your opinion, to each their own. personally I didn't like DOA or MK, but that's just me. I'm a different gamer. But unfortunately, there are a lot of morons who get offended by other people's opinions, and the best thing to do is just let it go. No need to reply to every comment against you. it just makes things into one giant flame-fest, so don't be a part of it.
And yes, when you keep fanning the flame by responding, it's considered trolling. Just forget about it and let it go.
BlazBlue is freaking amazing. I have it on 360. I have a fight stick. Yay!
There are a lot of people who will argue about how Xbox live is so much better than PSN, but I haven't had any problem. They both have great attributes. But for me, most of my friends have a PS3, which works for me. I guess you view things in a different light when you have all 3 current-gen systems. And people who are still a fanboy after having all three systems, you are PATHETIC. You have a world of options that other gamers with only one system don't have and you still continue to come out as a total D-bag. Sorry for the rant, I hate fanboys.
Fucking Ehrgeiz was better than DOA4.
Well, I think it all depends on how seriously you take it. For example, I don't take any of this seriously and am amused by those that do, especially those that take umbrage with it enough to write angry "posts."
Just watch.
Person A likes Game A more than Game B. Person B likes Game B more than Game A. Persons rapidly go from an arguement to just 'fuck you right back'.
People do can achieve opinions.
