Remember that sweet black Wii that Japan was able to purchase last summer? You know, the one Europe got their hands on back in the fall? Well, once again, the oft-ignored North American sector of the games market is finally going to get to have something cool that the rest of the world has already become bored with. Typical. We're practically becoming Australia over here.
Kotaku is reporting that they've heard from multiple sources within the retail industry about a new Wii bundle suspected to appear in stores next month. The rumored package is rumored to contain a black Wii with matching Remote and MotionPlus and a copy of Wii Sports Resort.
Well, it is really attractive. And I did just burn out the exhaust fan on my old unit last week, rendering it little better than a paperweight. I'm not saying I'd like to get one of these when/if they come around but, well, I might as well.
Rumor: Black Wii Comes To North America In May [Kotaku]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Ha. Hahaha. HAHAHAHA. Yeah right.
"We're practically becoming Australia over here."
You've got no idea how good you've got it, you aren't anywhere near becoming Australia.
Europe have had it since last autumn.
That's "fall" to you Yanks.
Queue next to my pavement tap with your full nappies and your bristols out and your fivers, you poncy arses! Rule Britannia!
Smart move Nintendo. They'll make money from this.
And before you even say anything, the Dreamcast was NOT a failure.
Also, this is a joke.
Also cocks.
I needs me one a 'dem!
This is a nice way of citing idiocy
Isn't the Wii currently retailing at around $200? They're hardly going to halve the price anytime soon.
If you were dumb enough to buy Ninjabread Man in the first place, I'm sure you have the mindset that could be wholly convinced that a different-coloured Wii could make your crappy game more interesting.
All toasters toast toast??...
If Nintendo would allow me to transfer without arguing with their tech support for two weeks, they would be getting another $200 of my hard earned money.
Oh well, time to buy the black case mod.
@Nyktharas Isn't that the reason you can transfer VC and WiiWare games to an SD card, so you can use them on another system? Apologies if I'm mistaken.
@CaptainBus I was one of those people who was seriously disappointed at how bad Ninjabread Man turned out, and I've never even played it. IMO, an amusing concept for a game, and the opportunity was wasted.
@matty125 I've been saying for the longest time that Nintendo needs to offer clear systems again. If nothing else, I'd love a clear DSi without having to go with a third-party replacement case of possibly dubious quality.
@CaptainBus (again) "She rogered the boogly!"
I cant trade any of my wiiware stuff over and most of my favourite games wont let me copy saves. Smart move Ninten-fail.
Sorry to disappoint, but I actually don't own Ninjabread. I was commenting on the Wii's lack of quality gaming that cannot be changed by the color of the hardware. One should be careful of questioning mindsets when one's own is so narrow as to not pick up on facetiousness. CaptainObvious, you are not.
Nope, I thought the same thing until I ended up buying a second Wii for my girlfriend, they are actually tied to the system you buy them on, and Nintendo made me jump through many hoops before they finally "re-granted" them to the second system.
However, in doing so, they stopped working on my original system, which they failed to inform me as they did it.
I was not happy with the big N that day.
Easy tiger! I believe struggling to pick up on facetiousness is indeed the issue here, except you should point that finger elsewhere.
I said that if you're dumb enough to pick up Wii shovelware without considering the implications, then you're dumb enough to believe a black Wii plays games better than a white Wii.
I didn't say you owned Ninjabread Man! I wasn't accusing you of anything, instead I was trying to riff with you, dog.
Jeez. Way to get angry on the internet, Higgie.
Drop? Did you see the charts for last winter? They were fucking ridiculously high.
