Black producers' new game is Bodycount photo

While Black might not have blown people away as much as the hype leading up to might have made us believe it would, it was still a technically impressive FPS and those behind it showed true potential. So it shouldn't be that surprising that people are looking forward to the devs behind it next game, which OXM seems to have accidentally outed.

In a post that has since been taken down (here is the Google cache) the magazine's online component announced that the next issue would be revealing all about the game. The game is being developed by Codemasters Guilford, which has brought in several of the team members from Black including Stuart Black. There is no other information shared in the post, but they do say that if you like shooting guns and destroying things you're probably going to like Bodycount

Does anyone know a gamer who doesn't like shooting and destroying things?

I hope this is an urban tactical shooter in the vein of Rainbow Six. The studio's last game was Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, so it would make sense as a follow up.

Not exactly the most family friendly title.

Can't wait though, Black was fantastic. I can't wait to see what they can do with the current gen technology. They certainly pushed the PS2 and Xbox.

Personally I loved Black. I thought it was one of the best shooters the PS2 ever had. The focus was NOT on tactics or strategy--rather it was all about shooting the bad guys and making the environment explode. Just as the game advertised, the guns were the stars (Black gave us some of the most realistic-looking modern weapons up to that point). Ammo conservation was important, and room clearing was a bitch (just like real life, kids--the defender always has the advantage).

Black obviously had its rough edges. The story was impossible to follow and seemed almost like an afterthought. Also, not being able to save your progress and pick up where you left off in some of those longer, more difficult levels was a huge mistake on the developer's part. But Preparation H feels good on the hole and by that I mean the game's flaws are more than eclipsed by the rest of its beauties. Black was a great shooter that I STILL play it to this day.

Also, no online = wtf?

Anyway, I look forward to ANY game by those devs in which I get to shoot people in the face and make their bodies catch on fire from exploding vehicles. Bodycount? Count me in!

Black was a very impressive game. If it had MP it would have been a lot better.

Black was a triumph of action and tension. If this game can deliver the same feeling I'll be happy.

Don't let me down!

I'm personally used to it now, hell if you look at the toid on your portable device (toilet edition) pretty much EVERY post is prefaced with "Xbox360:" not just tagged, the title is "Xbox360: Title"!!

We all know this is a muchos bias site, I for one have come to accept that.

Man you are getting so boring SexualChocolate. Can't you at least be wildly irrational so your trolling is entertaining. You're just coming off as retarded.

On topic: Hooray. Another game about shooting things :/

I like Black, it was/is a good game. The sound was amazing if I recall correctly. I need to play it again. I'll stick to my opinion though. A FPS doesn't need multi-player to be good.

I really liked Black, and kinda wished they had named this game Black 2 because, let's face it, body count is a lame, generic name.

I'm glad these guys are doing a new project. Black is still one of my favorite FPS games. I hope Bodycount is a direct sequel to Black because at the end of the game hinted that you're hands are untied and you can do almost anything in the next mission. I agree with Takeshi it doesnt need multiplayer they just need to focus on the story and gameplay.

I'm gonna call bullshit on the "it doesn't need multiplayer!" argument. The one thing the original black DESPERATELY needed was split screen co-op. Also don't devs allocate manpower to different teams so there's no such thing as "focus on the story".

At least that's the impression i've been under.

Black was severely underrated. I remember enjoying the hell out of it, and even if the entire thing was lamely straightforward, something about it kept it tense and engaging.

Black was technically impressive, and the graphics were also pretty impressive for it's time. Two things I though that really brought it down was the fact that it had no MP! Ermm.. that's just stupid. And the AI was a little fuzzy if you ask me..

If it can achieve the same "I just wanna see shit blow up" level of design, I'll check it out.

Also, Ice-T endorsement/cameo CONFIRMED.
