Bizarre Creation's newest racer: Blur photo

Activision drops the news this morning of Bizarre Creation's (Metropolis Street Racing, Project Gotham Racing series) latest project, a new racer named Blur.

Expect 20 cars on-track, speed boosts, and plenty of power-ups in this game that lets battles take place in locations like Barcelona, L.A., Hackney, and San Francisco. Blur's community-based interface has players interacting in a story-driving social network connect, compete, and make friends. Aside from the story mode, up to 20 players can race online, and up to four via splitscreen on one console.

"We did our homework and saw a huge opportunity to move beyond traditional racers and create a game completely focused on making racing 'fun' again," said Martyn Chudley, Creative Director, Bizarre Creations. "Blur delivers a new style of racing experience for all gamers, regardless of their experience, skill or genre preferences. Everything the player does, both in their cars and with their cars, is a dramatic adrenaline rush; it's a real blast!"

It's a real blast!

Blur will be released for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this fall. The official website is not up yet, but should be soon. We are hearing it called a Mario Kart and Forza mashup. Could be good.

I can't stand straight up "realistic" racing games and driving sims, so this has me interested.

Sounds like F-Zero from where I'm sitting. That can only be a good thing.

I can't wait for the upcoming release of Auto/Fast/Laps/Loop/Push/Race/Skid/Zoom...that's all I got

I've already trademarked Fast as the name for a racing game. I'll never develop it, but hey, someone's going to try and use that name, and I can sue the pants off them for it. :D

Arcadey driving games? Yea, I guess I'm getting sick of simulators as well.

I feel like I wrote a little something about the whole "generic four letter racing game title" thing...

Sounds to me like this and Split/Second have answered my racing dreams. I may actually end up buying not only one but two racing games this year (should they both see release by year end). I'm excited.
