Bit Transmission episode 3 will record this weekend photo

Third time's the charm, so I'm told. So, if it doesn't work this time, we're just going to give up and torture you with deliberations on polka. Don't make us go there.

This episode of Bit Transmission really is going to have a lot of discussion about Mega Man 10, but that's not all. Oh, no sir. We're also going to talk about other things. Really important things. And we might let Colette go on about Final Fantasy XIII for a bit. Maybe. Or GDC stuff we didn't get to check out for ourselves.

Okay, look, I spent a lot of time putting together that header image. Then I had a really good idea for it. Then I ran out of time to write this post. We'll get through this together. Ask questions, make comments, we'll include in the show. That's how this goes. Begin.

And pay no attention to the masked man.

Is No More Heroes 2 actually a better game for trying to appease those that didn't like the first game? By being able to streamline all the enjoyable parts does it make them less enjoyable without the mundanity?

Mega Man 10's pretty cool! Trying to play through with Protoman currently. And sucking. I didn't use the shop at all, but I did die a lot. Don't know if I'll ever bother getting the "Mr. Perfect" challenge (haven't gotten it in 9 either.) Avoiding damage seems really tough, although Mega Man 9's levels seemed tougher overall.

There's a lot of love for Megaman 2. How much of that do you think is because of the game itself (level design, music, etc.) and how much do you think is due to external factors (nostalgia, sequels are more of the same so aren't as fun to play, etc.).

Also, if you were to recommend a Megaman (1-10) based on intrinsic characteristics, which would you choose?

is there any way to listen to the older eps? I'm running into broken links for the past episodes

Given the lukewarm response to Sheep Man from last week, which are your favourite and least favourite Robot Masters from Megaman 1-8?

Re post from last week:

Opinions on the Mega Ten series of video games. New Shin Megami Tensei is coming out on DS, Dale posted a review, anxious to hear what you all thought of the series. Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, Devil Summoner, the translated SNES games, and of course the recent Persona games. No other podcast discusses them.

I want to add questions about Deadly Premonition a new 360 game that's batshit insane. Did the retroforce bit transmissitters have thoughts about DP?

And the latest beat em up RPG Yakuza 3 is out. I'm watching the opening cutscenes as I type this. Could this be better than the best beat em ups?

Anthony did a piece on Achievements and their potentially harmful affects. Do you think that achievements can help or harm gamers reception of games today? Can Mega Man 10 lose its luster even if it maintains the same formula from the 80s? He had an example of Pizza Hut and their reading for Pizza events and how that had a diminishing effect on the children's enjoyment of reading. Do you see the same situation happening with gaming or even certain genre's of gaming?

The masked man is clearly Chad Concelmo. In the case that I am incorrect, I will die. Also, FFXIII? Corridors? Discuss plz?

Are there any games that you really like that others hated, and try as you might, you can't quite explain to people why the game is good?
This most recently happened to me with Bionic Commando 2009.

Being that there are two very strong titles launching within a week of each other, which do you believe will sell better, Final Fantasy XIII or God of War III. In NA, PAL, Overall, whatever.

I buy a lot of virtual console games, the only thing is I don't really care if I complete the or not. I just like playing them up to my favorite point and stopping. My question to you guys is have you ever played older games like that or do you play them solely on the purpose of beating them?

I had nothing meaningful to ask... until I remembered a question that I had for you reviewer types. Would "you people" mind giving a quick overview of how you bash out a review on a typical game? Also, specifically, could you list some of the notes you've taken for your latest review?

I'm glad there's room for a podcast with a bit more maturity at Dtoid. Although I'm not sure which one holds a special place in my heart piece quite yet.

I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes and am glad to see that you all are recording on a regular basis. If we can't have more Retroforce (sorry, had to say it...) I'm at least happy to hear Ms. Bennet's musings in another forum. Also, Conrad, I must say that you may be the most thoughtful, articulate and gentlemanly host of any video game podcast that I've ever heard. Not that there is a great deal of competition out there, but still. Kudos.

Thanks for answering my question in episode 2. This question is for Colette / whoever will inevitably be talking about Final Fantasy XIII:

After playing Final Fantasy XIII, many people seem to think that the Final Fantasy series is moving away from it's traditional battle system towards something more commonly seen in American RPG's - real time combat. After watching the battle styles shift from game to game, do you think this will be the case?

What're your thoughts on Final Fantasy XIII's linearity? I personally hated it, to the point where I started playing Way of the Samurai 3 (an obviously inferior game) over it. I eventually made the decision to force myself to finish it, and am actually starting to enjoy it.

I had the opposite problem with XII (though it didn't help that most of XII's characters were complete garbage), where I found there was too much to do that it overwhelmed me. I learned to like that too, in the end.

Colette, have you checked out Deadly Premonition on the 360 yet? It reminds me so much of Earth Defense Force bad it's completely awesome.
