I think the sexism claim is coming from the subservient attitude that Samus has. She's been a strong character and defining female lead in video games, but now she's just a stupid bitch who takes orders from men.

Mass Effect and Dragon Age don't make particularly mature use of their sexual themes. It's your fairly standard "trigger the correct flags and be rewarded with sex".

@ sitter san- Mass Effect and and Dragon Age have sex in them, but they don't deal with the psychology of sex all that much. Same with GTA.

You have sex with people. That's it. Nothing to deep about it. Catherine, on the other hand, seems to be all about how sex can been scary, exciting, disgusting, and potentially lethal all at once.

That's quite the upgrade.

And yeah, it's idiotic to say that it's sexist that Samus takes orders from Adam in Other M. Everyone takes orders from Adam. Samus is no different than the other male soldiers under his command, except for the fact that she could kick all of their asses.

You may not like that she's willing to take orders. It may go against what your preconceived notion of who her character is. That's fine. But don't call it sexist.

@ Jonathan Holmes- I can see the distinction you are making, but I can't actually think of many games which actually delve into the psychology of anything (much less the psychology of sex).

Conrad made a good point about Catherine probably not really garnering mainstream media attention by the content of the game. Just look at games like Limbo, Record of Agarest War and such. They're not gonna care till someone in their league either brings it up or that a kid's mom makes a big enough deal about it. Sexuality in games, and not just boobs and penises being thrown around, will probably just seep into games little by little till we reach that point where it might mirror Hollywood's level (although, Hollywood seems to have been pulling back on nudity to gain a wider audience).

As for the haters hating, yeah, I'm annoyed, too, especially by the ones here. They bitch a low rating, but then they have nothing else to retort with other than "BIAS" or something on that level. They think the review is doing a disservice to a game by giving it a low ranking, but truthfully the person who can counter the critiques or even acknowledge them are doing a bigger disservice to the game.
