You can eradicate a Dark Spawn’s head with a flourish and mount an Ogre with crimson-coated steel in Dragon Age: Origins. But before that fun stuff can happen you must first enter into combat and hack at his health -- these gore-smeared scenes are finishing moves that become all the more gratifying after a nasty battle.
Those of you still plodding through Origins know what we’re talking about, but for those who don’t (you’re insane), check out the video above. Recently released by developer Bioware, it reveals a thing or two about the RPG’s semi-real-time battle system as well as delves into the component’s own origins and current design. There's more to cutting than simply cutting, it appears.
Speaking of design, by the way, I humbly request a more powerful summon skeletons skill for Dragon Age: Origins 2: Origins Harder. Also, a large cat. With metal teeth. And knives for feet.
I really really really wish I had a pc to play this on. The 360 version is a chore to play, not really having fun at all with it combat wise but everything else is great. They stripped it down to the point where unless you just want to hack and slash while letting your teammates do whatever then it's a pain in the ass to get tactical. The combat eventually made me put it on the shelf but I'll play it for sure once I can get a decent pc. A great game no doubt but definitely didn't translate well onto consoles.

Loved every minute. I really want a sequel... I'm on the phone with a cryogenics lab right now because I can't take the waiting.
