It seems we were overthinking our conspiracy theories when a faceless countdown showed up on a couple of official BioWare Web sites last week -- no add-ons, no expansions, and certainly no talk of sequels. Instead, what emerged was this contest ... thing called the BioWare Bazaar.
It's a week-long series of auctions for a ridiculous amount of goodies like games, gear, and apparel, most of which is branded with BioWare properties. Instead of using real money for the auctions, you're supposed to earn tokens by taking part in various challenges.
Challenges like, oh, answering questions on BioWare's Twitter feed. The auctions don't start until April 6, so there's plenty of time to build up a massive token collection for the big week. As cool as some of the prizes are, it's hard not to be a little underwhelmed. This is why countdowns are evil, folks.

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
So basically everyone else gets screwed over.

WHAAAAT? This sucks.
You're called THE RPGIST and don't care about a BIOWARE contest?
Go away please.
Indeed. 5-6 days of wondering what it was, and a *lot* of people haven't been happy with the results.
If you look at BioWare social, it's not as evident now as it was 4-5hrs ago however, there's a lot of discontent with what's happened. It uses Twitter (and I've also heard Facebook, I didn't look further into it once I found out I couldn't enter) which is causing some problem with people, and then it's heavily locked down to just 48 of the United States.
General consensus is that BioWare have instilled a lot of false hope in people, and there's a lot of disappointment. Rightly so!
I understand your point, but why should I be mad at myself for being born in England? I didn't choose to be.
Everywhere else got screwed over because it was a global countdown; So people were getting high hopes and expectations. So when the countdown finally reached zero, and after the BioWare servers came back up after crashing, a lot of people were disappointed to find out that the 'surprise' didn't affect them at all.
To make it worse, the link to the "BioWare Bazaar" is on the Social Homepage.
....though I do find it REALLY hilarious that only America is involved when that's only one of the language/country selections I have to choose near every time I go to the site out of the many. Like 1/10th of it.
BioWare is located in Canada.... they just pissed off a bunch of Canadians. Myself included.
