Despite retail listings, rumors, and other online shenanigans, BioWare maintains that its hit title Mass Effect 2 will not be coming to the PlayStation 3.
The latest rumblings came when direct references to the PlayStation 3 were found inside game code for the sequel. Sorry PS3 fans, BioWare's Chris Priestly has shut the speculation down.
"The Unreal Engine is cross platform, hence the PS3 code," he writes on the BioWare forums. "This was brought up back in Mass Effect 1 days as well."
"Mass Effect is for the PC and Xbox 360," he continues, stating the obvious, before yelling "LOCKDOWN!"
So there you have it, and I don't know how many times BioWare has to say it: If you want to play Mass Effect 2, you're going to need a 360 or a capable PC. Or just don't play it -- there are plenty of other amazing (and exclusive) games on your platform of choice. Don't act like you don't have stuff to play!

srsly though, wasn't there a video game developer who made a game exclusively for the 360 and PC and then rumors came about that it was also coming to the PS3, the devs said it wouldn't come out on the PS3, but later...it did came out. Forgot what game it was.

I own both an XBox and a PS3, so really it doesn't matter to me if it was on both or not. I just love seeing the haters who only support one console, and how quickly they'll write off any game that's not on their console of choice.

Chocs - If you in any way shape or form like RPGs, then you're missing out big time. Mass Effect 2 is in the elite tier of that genre, and putting your hands over your ears and shouting Lalalalalalalalalalalalalala is only doing yourself out of an amazing RPG experience.

Bioware has never said that there will not be a Mass Effect game on PS3, they always said "Well, right now it on PC&360", how many hints can they spread "We want as many people to play it" "There are no legal issues releasing Mass Effect on PS3" and so on

I could be way off, but your avatar's appearance is subject to scarring or healing depending on your renegade or paragon actions - that could be engine related?
Clearly, Bioware had a chance to port ME2 to PS3 for massive renegade points, or keep it only on 360 for a nice paragon boost. All we have to do is check out if their facial scars are healing, and we'll have a definitive answer!
Take a look at the code. It says Paragon and Renegade messages. Messages, in fact, have everything thing to do with the Unreal engine. They're the graphical pieces that inform you of what happens in a game, part of the GUI, which is involved with the engine.
Second, if Mass Effect was PS3 bound, why wouldn't they have done it already? Someone explain that, now. Because they've pretty much said they don't have an exclusivity contract, so they could have done this 100 times by now. You don't think it's strange that they wouldn't have even ported the first before discussing a port of the second?
Just face it, it's not coming to PS3.

If you are one of those weirdos that would rather see their family burn in a fire before grabbing an Xbox controller, just go play it on a PC (and the first one, it's worth it).... but don't dismiss it just because you are a rabid fanboy in denial.

Nothing is happening until they say it's happening. There is literally no proof. This is the same BS code that people brought up almost 3 years ago. It meant nothing then, it means nothing now. As of right now there is no PS3 ME2. And if there we it would he on shelves already. What are they waiting for? ME1 is owned by Microsoft so waiting to port ME1 over wouldn't make sense.
But regardless of speculation (I'll admit I just did right up there) I'll reiterate that there is nothing to base that claim of a PS3 version. Can we all grip with reality? If you want a PS3 version great! I hope you get what you want. I wish we had more ME fans other than the "Xbox fanboys" and "everyone else." But to say this is proof is BS.

Sounds like you need to play mag before you talk, I understand why it wouldn't be a few peoples cup of tea, but no one who's played it would utter something that stupid.
Besides saying somthing is GOTY now is pointless considering all the years badasses usually come after E3, hell dead rising 2 and god of war 3 already look better than ME2 in my opinion.
People could say that about U2 because it was the end of the year and nothing looked as good as it, this is feburary, all credit that is due to ME2 I'll give it (great game from the sound of things) but it probably won't last as a GOTY contender the way recent releases are going.I don't know why anyone would set themselves up to be wrong like that.

Mass Effect 2 has the same Metacritic score as Uncharted 2 earned, but based on more reviews. That's why it's being touted as game of the year already. That and the fact that pretty much everyone who is playing it is utterly enamoured by it.
Now Metacritic isn't the be all and end all, but it's a pretty good indicator. I don't see any other game slated for this year on either system that looks likely to top that, though of course it's possible. But you have to be pretty fucking good to better Uncharted 2, and now Mass Effect 2. If it's done - Wow! excellent, that'll be impressive.
I did play MAG. I actually played the beta and wasn't impressed. The controls weren't very tight, and the network had problems. Granted, that could have changed by now and it could be a better game. But in the FPS category it doesn't really stack up to games like Killzone, Modern Warfare, or Battlefield. And it definitely isn't as good a game as Mass Effect 2.
God of War 3 might be a contender to ME2 for game of the year. And it is early to call it GOTY, which is why I didn't. I said it was as good as Uncharted 2. For all I know something better might come along this year. The games coming out this year look great, and could potentially beat Mass Effect 2. But all I said was it was on the level of Uncharted 2. And MAG comes nowhere close.
I want it out on PS3 though for 2 reasons.
1. The PS3 is my console of choice. (Selfish but meh)
2. The more people who get to play this amazing series, the better.

I don't think I have seen stodgy xbox fanboys/girls than PS3 fanboys/girls. One thing sony has on its side is the rabid fanboys and girls. So I read your post as this:

Anyone saying "What? I'm playing *insert some PS3 exclusive here* and don't care about these 'Mass Affects'" is in complete denial. This is one of the best games I've ever played in my life, and I've only played it for like four hours so far. If you have a PS3, quit being a fanboy retard and get it on PC then. It has super-low system specs and is worth every second of playtime.
