BioWare's in-development MMO is more secret than Secret Squirrel watching The Secret World of Alex Mack during the Secret Wars while listening to In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth. Thanks to technical director Bill Dalton, however, we do know that BioWare's new project is slated to see the light of day in 2009. Dalton slipped the release year out while talking to Information World about Streambase, a technology being implemented by BioWare to monitor the activities of players, keeping constant tabs on the movements of each user which will help BioWare to swiftly make fixes to the game and police abusive players. Other than that, very little is currently known, although the developer promises that "story, character and emotion," will be key to the title and that visual customisation will be extensive. BioWare also wants to distance its MMO from World of Warcraft with a freshness of content, claiming that they don't want users to be "stuck grinding through the same content over and over again." Certainly a game to keep an eye on, though we have a long, long time to do that. [Thanks to Buck F1tches for the tippage, as well as all the hard linking work he's been doing]

I have no clue what that last secret thing is. Interesting news.
"I have no clue what that last secret thing is"
Sssssh. It's a secret.
I love Bioware. Think it will find its way to the 360?
With PC and console games being linked by Microsoft nowadays through Live and Games for Windows, one can but hope that this and other PC MMOs see some crossover fun.
I just came in here to tell you that picture is fantastical.
Rad picture indeed, but I think there's a loss of points for referencing Coheed and Cambria
-D-: Incorrect. C&C are made of win.
They're from my area, so I get to poke fun at them. I used to sell them copies of Alternative Press with their faces on it during my stint at hot topic. They were giddy fanboys.
good, anything that takes away from them working 24/7 on Mass Effect for me should be destroyed.
I doubt it will be making it's way to home consoles, as the engine they licensed to build the MMO was developed for specifically the PC platform.
Err, isnt that a Neverwinter Nights 2 concept (with nothing o do with bioware?)
I did a GIS for BioWare and that's what came up.
I support that C&C reference. +1 Music Cred.
The only downside to a Bioware MMO that I can see is that they, like Blizzard before them, will dump pretty much all of their time and resources into it and so it will be forever and a day and another forever before we see another cool, though slightly smaller-scale, game like Mass Effect or another Jade Empire or KOTOR (or a new Diablo game, in Blizzard's case). MMOs are fine for those who care about them, but they're not my cup of tea at all, and so this news fills me with a vague sense of dread.
