The absolute pinnacle of evil.
I blame reddit because that's where I saw this shit start, my first thought to seeing the Helper post was "Really? We're blaming game writers now?"
Dragon Age 2: Shell of a game where the male protagonist can sleep with more men then women.
The difference: Jennifer Hepler.
These facts cannot be disputed. Also she turned Anders into a sissy emo puss.
Yes because it can't possibly be due to the game being rushed to fuck by EA. I mean it's all the fault of one person. Pull your head out of your ass.
And he can do bigger jumps and stuff.
on topic people on internet are stupid they jump first before looking
I dislike the Story Mode concept in ME3, but I don't think it even had something to do with her as her concept was to skip battles entirely and Story Mode really just lets you God Mode through battles. I still object to both ideas, but she didn't implement the one that exists. I really blame that sort of shit on EA and the heads of Bioware, not a writer.
If you want to complain about the decline of Bioware, place the blame in EA, who is forcing them to crank out a new RPG every year. Even with different teams, those teams still run on a two year cycle and you just can't get a really great RPG out of two years of development. Mass Effect was planned out as a trilogy, so that one has an excuse, but DA2 wasn't planned out as meticulously and it shows.
You run the risk of sustaining a boner by thinking of baseball players, baseball bats, and men patting other men in the gluteus maximus.
Your call dude.
Regardless of whether the facts can be disputed, more importantly, do they even matter?
No one deserves to be bullied. But it's also not productive to pretend that games based so heavily on writing don't suffer when new writters come on and change an established cannon drasticaly, which I imagine, was the seed behind this hate movement.
@youngskeletor:
My (albeit brash) point was the she tends to reply on the Bioware forums to fan criticism directly (which is something to be admired) but then tends to show little concern for cannon, or pre-established stories or persona, annoying fans. I speak only of DA mind you. The personality shift of Anders, and subsequent awful ending of DA2, while meaningless to any who don't care, was a huge FU to many fans. The fact that the romance choices didnt change depending on gender (4 male, 2 female for both) also showed just a general sense of laziness, but again, a decision that was justified on forums. I don't believe she's even involved with ME3 (which will still be awful if the arrival DLC was any indication).
I was just thinking mainly of baseball bats actually. Then again, they're pretty long and hard. Maybe I should just think of babies. That does the trick nearly 60% of the time!
If people want to criticize her writing, ok then. Just do it as a civilized human being with good, well thought out points and not as a complete asshole.
In terms of DA2, the story was pretty horrible by any medias standard. At the same time, there was a whole development team working on it. At some point, someone in this pretty large team should have brought up the quality of the story in what was meant to be a very story focused game that's a sequel to a well loved story focused game.
So I'd hardly blame one individual.
I wish Bioware toned down on the whole romance options in all their games.
In my few playthroughs of ME2, I've somehow ended up sleeping with Jack and Miranda. Not because I wanted to, but simply because I kept talking to them because in most other RPGs, I like to find out as much about characters and kept selecting dialogue options that kept the conversation going.
Plus the likes of Tali suddenly becoming a bumpling schoolgirl in 2 because she now had a crush on me was annoying. Then most of Garrus lines seemed to be for Fem Shep for romance options with Male Shep stuck with hearing about calibrations over and over.
Next thing you know I'll be trying to avoid talking to Joker too much to avoid sleeping with him.
It's gotten a bit out of hand. And I don't know why they do it. It feels forced and just cheap tbh.
Problem is that it isn't just a few, nor has this been the first time it's happened. The fact that it's a far stretching concern whenever a BioWare game gets released these days seems to be a problem.. Between hating her writing and raging about being given homosexual choices, the vocal sect of BioWare's fans are pretty ridiculous.
"and singling her out for projects to which she has not contributed (i.e., Jennifer is not even a part of the Mass Effect writing team)."
And see, even BioWare is willing to point out that these people have no fucking clue to what they're talking about, because she isn't even on the games writing team. So they just assume she is, because she has been before with their other games, and fly off the handle. Actually knowing what your talking about, despite having the internet at your finger tips just about 100% of your day, doesn't seem to actually exist at all any more. People were more informed when they actually had to dig to look things up.
@Tarvu
It really isn't Mass Effect fans, its BioWare fans. Period. Dragon Age's writing got this level of pissed off rage from them too (as well as gamers in general, but it was BioWare fans who took it to the next level). I'm horribly surprised they haven't done it for TOR aside from some news sources deciding that picking to be darkside with a single character, to a single characters companion, means BioWare hates the entire female gender.
Someone needs to take away their games.
You're the kind of person that we hate.
People have been giving valid complaints and Helper is hiding behind the "Theyre just sexist" argument. But yeah, Bioware can call them fuckwads and only prove the fact that they're unprofessional; they might even gain respect from idiots like you.
