wow it's been a long time since i heard a game being region free and can play on any parts of the world.

Yeah this is good news. I can't say I have any real interest in the game and living in the UK this would hardly effect me even if I did, but it's still nice to hear of publishers and developers not dicking over countries for no reason. Especially when it comes to games intended to mostly be played online, there's no excuse for having the game launch in diffreent areas at different times or with different rules/pricing/etc. This isn't quite as good as a simultaneous launch but it's a step in the right direction.

@flintcsci it's the community manager that said it. You can safely bet that he'd know if EA were going to throw a fit about it.
Yes it's actually pretty awesome. A very good news for a change, since I'm totally fucked from playing Catherine and Arcana Hearts 3 on the 360 in my region (Singapore).
@Apokalipz Theyv'e hinted that it will be coming out in Australia and New Zealand properly at some point, they just have given absolutely no indication when that might be.
I get this, why would you as a business not allow as many customers as possible to access your product. Ive never understood region locking on non hardware items. Hardware I get as you have safety standards, power issues, plug issues, but media which only requires a comparable device makes no sense to lock unless it violates some law, and even then you should allow the user the choice on taking the risk in that matter.
Please region lock China though. Give them their own servers, but please....they are a juggernaut with the gold selling.
Now just reduce the launch price of games over here from $120 to something reasonable considering the not-so-ridiculous shipping costs and maybe I'll buy a retail game again. Until then, I'll continue making sweet love to Steam and XBLA.
That latency is gonna be a bitch for the Aussies, but at least it's one step forward to defeating evil region-locking.
Alice: Madness Return was a bad import experience for me.
I live in Europe and decided to buy Alice.
The game was from Hong Kong though. Which the seller didn't mentioned.
Anyway It worked on the PS3 so I didn't really minded that much.
When I tried to use my code to download the Original Alice though. That's where the trouble began.
It would let me redeem the code so after a while I said "Screw it" and went on PSN and actually paid for the damn thing..
I then boot the game up aaand... Nothing. Goddamn nothing.
I really REAALY don't understand why PSN would work like this.
I had a similair experience with Little Big Planet which I had to import since the collectors edition wasn't released here.
I couldn't play the game in my own language which was kind of a shame but that's okay.
What isn't okay is that I could import any of my game data from LBP1.
I wonder why I have to deal with this kind of BS in 2011 and I can't really figure out if it's gonna get better or worse in the future.
