Just in case you were in any doubt, 2K has confirmed unequivocally that BioShock 2 will be heading to the PlayStation 3. Considering 2K is out to make as much money as humanly possible from the franchise, there really shouldn't have been any question.
There had been rumors that Microsoft wanted another timed exclusive, similar to the original BioShock, and gossiping fishwives used a recent "Platform TBA" listing for the sequel as evidence of their chattering claims. The publisher has not confirmed whether or not this could still be the case, as there is no word yet on release dates for either console.
I find it doubtful that BioShock 2 will be a timed exclusive, due to its popularity on both systems, but I could always be wrong. It all depends on how deep Microsoft's pockets are right now. Probably not as deep as they were in 2007.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
As far as the multiplatform status, it's nice to see it confirmed but it's been pretty much a no-brainer on this since they said that when they ported Bioshock to the PS3 to make it exactly like the 360 version that this would be their learning experience for Bioshock 2.
Let the quality / price of a console be the only thing persuading people to choose. Even exclusives where the dev is owned by or operates hand in hand with the console company are fair, but simply "buying" an advantage in this way, well it disgusts me that it's allowed to happen.
I think lawmakers need to look at the gaming industry and look at how M$ operates.
I mean fair do's if it's just going to take longer to make the PS3 version, but if Microshaft are paying devs to give Sony a disadvantage it's practically undermining the capitalist system and should be illegal in countries with a fair market policy.
How do private deals between private companies represent a violation of the market?
Don't worry your not a fanboy you have a preference, After buying the original bioshock on both the 360 and PS3 I learned that I just prefer the PS3 and I just stoped buying multiplats for my 360. Hell I even ended up skipping star ocean TLH when I saw there was no 360 only label on the box.I think most of that "fanboy" crap is a result of this bad economy, If one console were to die it would be beyond alot of peoples power to get the other one right now ( however I still don't see how those people think going online and being an assh*le is helping).
@Sexualchocolate
Well yes that is srewed up but thats business, MS isn't stupid and realized if 50 and 100 GB games started launching on the PS3 the 360 would've been joining the dreamcast( R.I.P )right now. By buying exclusivity they slow the PS3 advancement and get everyone to think that there the prefered console among devs( two birds, one stone). Truth be told gaming is never going to advance like that ( but thanks to the awful economy people don't care and just wanna get by )but I've learned that thats the way these greedy companies are and as screwed up as that is you kinda have to deal with it.
I disagree. Actually banning by law a perfectly acceptable practice goes against a fair market way more than exclusivity deals. While I agree that paying a dev to hold back a game on another system is a dick thing to do, it's still a "fair" thing to do. Nobody is saying Sony can't counter-offer.
