BioShock team looking for multiplayer talent photo

2K Boston, the team responsible for BioShock, is looking for a lead designer to work on a first-person-shooter multiplayer mode. With 2K Marin working on BioShock 2, it looks like the team has something more original up its sleeve.

"You must be familiar with the current state of the art in multiplayer game design across a wide range of genres on both PC and console," the job listing specifies. "You must be capable of analyzing and critiquing game designs and using that analysis to inform your own design sensibilities. We expect you to be familiar with BioShock and other 2K Boston/Irrational products and be able to speak critically about them."

When BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams was announced, designer Ken Levine stated that his team would not be touching it because they were planning to "swing for the fences" with something "very very different."

2K Boston is a talented team and it'll be interesting to see what it does to shake up multiplayer FPS'.

I'm completely qualified for this job, what with my ability to speak very critically about BioShock.

As far as I know these job listings (or at least the ones I found last July) are for the new X-Com game. Though, BioShock 1 was made with 2 2k studios collaborating, 2K Boston could be working on the multiplayer (or the new X-Com game as wikipedia suggests)

I'm interested to see how multiplayer in a Bioshock game plays out.

I'm guessing it'd be something along kind of gimmicky, but traditional modes like Harvest the Adam, both teams try and chase down a little sister, who's protected by two Super Big daddies ( you need to co-operate to take him down, one on one is not an option)

Big Daddy vs everyone ( 10 player mode, 1 person who's a powered up big daddy versus 9 splicers), they try and take him down, he tries and protects his lil sistah.

can't think of much else I'd like to play outside of that, but those would be pretty fun.

I wouldn't mind a Humans Vs. Splicers mode, either. If they could find some way to balance it out, I would definitely play that.

Not in the same vein as L4D, more like regular Deathmatch, but with the above characters instead. They would also have their differences, like maybe Splicers would be faster but Humans do more damage, and players could switch every round, and best two-out-of-three or best three-out-of-five wins the game.

Wow, that's a great lack of reading comprehension there folks. Of course, I guess the title was probably written just to prove that people will comment without reading the article.

I wonder what this would mean if 2k Boston is really working on a new X-Com game? They've obviously shown major chops for co-op with SWAT 4, which is what would be the most logical mode for something like X-Com I'd think. Even the co-op patched onto System Shock 2 was fun to play with.

Well, whatever they are doing, I'm definitely interested if it's going to see a multiplayer focus.
