You’ve seen how spectacular BioShock looks, so it goes without saying that you’ll need a great rig to see the game’s full potential. Then again, there’s always the option of buying the Xbox 360 version, unless you seriously hate playing first-person shooters with anything but a mouse and keyboard.

I could run it, my video card only has 256MB though, so it would suffer there, that being said, my laptop hates games and the core processor gets so friggen hot while they're running causing my fans to be louder than a 360's. So yeah, 360 version ftw! thank god for the easy achievements!

Well, my PC will definitely be able to run it...

I think I will get the PC version only because it will be cheaper...

Ha, I laugh at those recommended system specs. Though maybe my H2O cooling will finally have some actual work to do now..

OH! Right. Sorry, my bad. Well, at least I have minimum specs on my end. Bleh, maybe the iMac port will be better.

Yeah... my graphics car alone could run it... my system is of the badass race.

But yeah... needing specs like that to run it fully shows the game will be, if anything else, very very pretty.

That's actually not as bad as I expected. Still too rich for my blood, so I'll be getting the 360 version...but I was thinking it might be approaching Crysis levels of ridiculousness.

Hmmm whats the logic on making a $1500-$2000 PC to run a $40 dollar game When you can buy the console for $400 and buy the $60 dollar version?

Also why in gods name would I want a top of the line PC in this day and age? All the good games will be released in consoles, cross platform play is possible, consoles able to perform in HD with awesome power, you can hook up a keyboard+mouse with the proper adapter for all those who whine about that...

The days of PCs bein the king of gaming are long gone... Piracy is rampant in PCs and the only way to make a real profit is to make MMORPGs with simpler graphics so everybody can play. (WOW)

And now with that PCIe, DDR2, SATA, Dualcore bullshit Ill have to buy a whole new PC to play... WOW? I can run it perfect... Counter Strike? thats so 1999 (when I got sightly interested)

OH!... Crysis! WTF I wont pay $600 err... $500 to play RFoM let alone $2000 to play that game... Even FarCry wasnt that good of a game...

Devs are moving towards consoles. Ill be glad to make a $2000... fuck, a $5000 PC if you can name me 10 games that will be released on PC ONLY that are not a MMORPG tomorrow Ill sell my car and buy the PC at Newegg.

Barely, Just squeeked into the Recommended level, whew! Though it does say Intel Core 2 Duo and nothing about the AMD requirements.

"•Important Note: Game requires Internet connection for activation"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... After Bethesda/Take Two published Oblivion without a key or CD protection I was hoping more great games like this would follow suit, but this is probably pressure from MS. Too bad, guess my friends will have to buy their own copies. :(

I spent about $300 piecing together a system that'll run this game. Don't have to spend that kindda money to get into PC gaming 0bshaky. Upgrade here, a hand-me-down there, and you're good to go!

will this support multicore setups? thats a trend that needs to continue. seems like it does if the recommended specs say "core 2 duo. I've got four opteron 275s just itching to play this. hell, looks like even my macbook pro could probably run this sucker good (albeit in xp)

@obshaky

Sounds like someone's just whiny because they don't have a kick ass rig and don't have the money for one.
Personally, I could go either way. I have a 360, but I just upgraded to an Intel Core 2 duo E6600, 4GB of pc2-6400 RAM (though, only 3.5GB is recognized silly 32-bit OS.), BFG Geforce 8800GTX OC, two SATA 500GB Seagate drives, etc.. I was in the same boat you were. I upgraded from an athlon xp 2400+. No ddr2, no pcie, no sata. I'm much happier with a killer computer than every console out there.

Yay...I can run it too. But ya know, I'll still take the 360 over PC on this one. When the action starts, framerates drop and I'm a frame whore. I'll take smoothness ftw (that's what she said)

Just barely make the recommended list. As for the framerate, the game running on the 360 won't look as good as the pc one, since to get those framerates they lower the quality. I can do the same on the pc version.

I'm below recommended (only got a single core Athlon FX and 256mb x1800xt) so I reckon I'll go for the 360 version. I'm really going to have to build a new computer for UT3 though (and I'm broke :-( ).

The advantage with the 360 version is that when I go back to my parents' house I can play it in 50" 1080p surround sound though :-)

To anyone who questions PC gaming - you'll always be behind the times. PC Gaming paves the way for console gaming. Consoles end up with reduced size, uber efficient graphics chips which have been based upon previous PC hardware, in most cases. ATI and nVidia provide graphics chips to nearly all the PC market, where "onboard" video isn't presented with it. Those are the same companies which manufacture the graphics chips for PS3, Wii and 360. All old PC tech, recycled.

PC's will always be at the forefront of the graphics market, quite simply because there are people willing to pay silly money for "the very latest" piece of hardware. It's not always cost efficient, infact it's pretty much always backward, but if PC gaming wasn't around then half the innovations in lighting, physics and AA wouldn't be applied this console generation.

I by no means have a 1337 pc, but god damn I wish I did :P

It's been over 6 years since I put a new PC together for myself. Thats a long ass time in terms of PC hardware. I intend on getting a new PC at the end of the month anyhow (intel price drops ftw) - and my new setup will exceed the "Recommended System Requirements" by a very healthy margin.

3 cheers for disposable income!

looks like its time to retire the 7800GT.

Seems like only yesterday the 78XX mascot, that big dumb biker 'toon, was smiling out from the webpage urging me to buy the goodness.

I'm still on the fence about whether I should go with ATI's new chip or stick with nvidia. I usually have better luck with ATi's products.....

I guess this comment thread has turned into a sort of PC vs. console argument. Well, for me, the argument boils down to user-created content. I used to play only consoles because my PC was useless, so I never realized this, but the value of a PC game is greatly increased by mods and fixes released by users. Look at Neverwinter Nights for example. The game's lifespan was extended by years because of the dedicated community creating unique scenarios. I honestly feel sorry for the people buying the new Orange Box from Valve because of all the user-created content they'll be missing (not that the software is underpriced-best deal ever). When you buy one Source Game from Valve, you get at least a dozen good mods that can extend your play time by potentially hundreds of hours more than you would get from the console version.

User created content does rock.

Plus, MOUSE AND KEYBOARD. I can't imagine playing an FPS without it.

I guess people don't understand that there's more to a great PC rig than just gaming. I myself do a lot of graphic design, so I'm forever upgrading my computer to keep it up to speed. My dream is to have a setup where I can create artworks at an insane DPI count, and not experience a hiccup.

My system specs is somewhere in between the minimum and recommended, but that isn't good enough. I'm going to need some upgrades.
