PS3 fans, rejoice! You are now officially allowed to like BioShock, because it's coming to the Black Box o' Blu-ray! As you are all likely aware by now, BioShock for PS3 is confirmed, and there are a few scant details.
Firstly, the game will ship with all the extra plasmids from the 360 version, as well as any little fixes that may have been made since the game's launch via updates. Pretty standard stuff for a port, really. Thus far, Sixaxis support has not been confirmed.
What has been said is that the PlayStation 3 version is pretty much only going to be useful for those who never played the PC/360 versions. Sony is apparently planning to "extend and augment" the game, but the word for now is that the 360 and PS3 games will be pretty much identical.
That is, of course, the word for now. The word has a habit of changing. We shall let you know as soon as more details arise.
I loved it on PC, but you know, it was such a good game, this may just be an excuse to play it again - only with the added difficulty of dual analog controls...
Plus, I'd love to see this on my livingroom TV.
FI-FUCKING-FINALLY
why couldn't they announce this ages ago istead of being annoying about it (consant denial)
good news though
I took my tin copy of bioshock, and scratched in the words " Only on xbox 360".
<3
@necrozen: it's awesome on a big HDTV with surround sound and the lights off.
I can't really see what's going to be added to the game from the PC/360 version. The extra plasmids sure, but what else are they going to do to it? I think that's just marketing BS. Still I know a few PS3 owners who are really happy that they're gonna get to play Bioshock.
@ Ali D
I can imagine. Every so often I would pause the game on my computer and look longingly in the direction of livingroom. Wanting ever-so-badly to see it in 52inch full HD with surround sound. I think it's worth 60 bucks for that.
Well, looks like it's settled then. I'm definitely getting a PS3 thanks to this bit of news. The 360 no longer offers me anything interesting and exclusive.
"Now Cave Man (Re-re-Joiiiice)" XDDDD (Guitar hero 1)
Great!,but wont buy, enough with my PC version
I lol'ed, ns pic.
Damn it, I bought a friend's 360 just for this game. I should have held out a bit longer, oh well. Ninja Gaiden 2 and Gears of War keep me from feeling like a total jackass
It's always nice to see more people being able to play a game. I have Bioshock for PC, but I didn't enjoy it very much at all.
How are they going to "alter" anything in the game? Are they going to make your actions actually have an impact on anything other than the final cinematic?
Zing.
Great news even if I don't own a Ps3. I hate exclusive titles.
Sweet. I own both consoles but I always put ff buying it for my 360... I was planning to pick it up after I finished Lost Odyssey, so this is good news. I will always choose a PS3 title over a 360. Why? Because my TV had HDMI. ^_^ And I don't have an Elite...
Hehehe PS3 with games ... some people are probably be sad right now :)
Awesome pic Jim

Good for the PS3. Seemed silly not to do it.
@Those who own the PC version but want to play it on their TV.
Why not hook up your computer to your TV? most HDTV's have DVI input for 1080p :-0 and it's REAL 1080p, not stretched.
Plus... who wants to play an FPS with a controller?
I'm getting a 360 next month with Bioshock and GTAIV so I don't care... but it's nice for people who don't have a 360 or a decent PC. And at least now the PS3 fanboys can stop flaming it...
@ MechaMonkey
Exactly, I really want MGS4 and FF on 360 as well. It's annoying hearing so much about these games and not being able able to play them on the 360.
@ Slick Icarus, why wouldn't you buy a PS3 instead since you know it's more reliable and you can get both of those games eventually on it?
I wouldn't invest heavily in a machine that is prone to breaking down if I were you.
Atlas is Fontaine?
Holy shi- it's Atlas! Get in the Bathysphere!
Please no Sixaxis crap. If I wanted to wiggle my remote, I'd buy a Wii or do it in the bathroom where no one would see me doing it.
Glad this is coming to the PS3, though that probably means me waiting even longer for it to hit the bargain bin price. Wish Mass Effect would get a port.
I played the hell out of Bioshock on my PC. Great game, but its been almost a year since that game came out. I'd imagine any gamer that was really hard up for this game would have found out a way to play it on XBOX360 or PC by now, but I guess I'm a little extreme when it comes to the "-shock" titles. Are that many PS3 owners that don't bother with other systems where this might pay off for Sony?
Are that many PS3 owners that don't bother with other systems where this might pay off for Sony?
Almost six months ago I would have said that I'd just pick it up for the 360 when it hit a reasonable price. Since then, I've become a total PS3 elitist when it comes to my games in that I will only get games that I know will stay on the 360 and otherwise get it on the PS3 or wait and hope that it comes to the PS3 eventually.
It is a great game but its a little late to the party, I find the enthusiasm here a bit staged. Everyone by now must know the plot. I am more interested in who is porting it, all the pc/360 to ps3 ports have been very poor so far, dual development is a very different thing. If it is flawless (and it deserves to be) then great for all PS3 owners, thing is I played it a long time ago on a much cheaper system. (sound of knives sharpening).
all the pc/360 to ps3 ports have been very poor so far
Have you actually played any ports? I ask because I own and have played both Oblivion and The Orange Box and neither of those are poor ports. Oblivion is freaking sweat in every way possible and The Orange Box you really have to look for the issues.
Oblivion sweats? Pretty nasty.
Sixaxis support is not necessary. I'm not playing it on my PS3 or 360 considering I tried it on PC only to find out that it's exactly the same game as SystemShock2.
OH GOD YES
I'm really hoping for no sixaxis. That would ruin the experience in my opinion.
The sixaxis in Uncharted and GTA IV is awesome. Maybe they could add the ending that Levine intended and not those last minute ones.
Finally, the PS3 is just as cheap as the 360 and a PC that could run BioShock on high settings. Where is this idea that the PS3 is so pricey? At least you don't have spend another $100+ dollars to use WiFi or charge your controllers.
I'm wondering why there isn't any Sixaxis support for leaning to the side in FPS games.
Congrats to PS3 owners, now you get to enjoy a game that the rest of us have enjoyed for months.
I'm not really all that excited. I played it on 360 but I didn't understand what all the fuss was about? I probably won't buy it for PS3.
I really hate how the PR people can come and flat out say, "We are not working on Bioshock for the PS3, end of story," and they know full well that they are lying through their teeth. They're not bending the truth, they're not giving a "no comment," they're purposely providing false information. Why do we allow that?
