I have to say, this video really convinced me. When I first heard about the "tears in reality" thing I was a little wary - it felt really jarring, as if it was a bit out of place. Especially that whole bit involving Tears For Fears and Return Of The Jedi and stuff. But when he started name dropping physicists (gotta love Heisenberg and Planck) and explaining how these tears fit into the science of the time, it really started to click for me. I can dig it now.
All aboard the hype train!
My only complaint is that it sounded like porn towards the end of the video...lulz, but seriously, I wouldn't doubt that someone in my house thought I was you know.. XD
Don't you think thats a little close minded? System Shock 2 was the absolute best game of the 90s (yes even taking Deus Ex into consideration). Dismissing it out of hand just because its old is criminally ignorant. Regarding this new Bioshock, I'm concerned that they will try to be too much like System Shock 2, like what happened with the original Bioshock. Yes, I love System Shock 2 to bits but at the same time I realize that game designers need to grow and progress past their comfort zones of decades past if they ever wish to make a great game without it being compared to games of yore.
I may not make much sense with the last sentence, but what I'm trying to say is that just as a musician's music evolves as they advance in their career, so must a game designer evolve to learn to make better games.
Oh yeah, I'm still totally pumped for it. Just slightly disappointed that it's not going in the direction I hoped it would. The way this feature iss implemented in the vid sort of breaks the feel I was getting from the game before.
