A special treat was promised this Sunday and a special treat was delivered. Although somewhat obvious since it was rumored beforehand, it's still nice to know that those of us eagerly awaiting BioShock with excited trembling can now download a demo from Xbox Live -- right now! Yes, while 90% of the readers have just abandoned this post to go giggle like girls and fire up their consoles, the rest of you can watch the latest trailer for 2K's ridiculously sweet looking first person romp.

There's little more for me to say other than I love the latest commercial. Absolutely ripping stuff and hopefully the demo matches. Now go, download, play and share your thoughts with the rest of the Destructoid community.

The demo is the fucking balls. I'm sorry for all you people that are 1/5th of the way. You're in for a treat, though.

It's a decent length, too. A good 30 minutes if you take your time and look around. I was really getting into it, and then it ends on a fun, movie-esque cliffhanger.

I'm pissed that my money has to be saved for other games, because the demo made me want it. Hard.

Holy shit, I can't wait to get my hands on it. This is a perfect game to have a demo for. All signs point to critical acclaim, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't become the mass market success they had hoped. I'm rootin' for ya Bioshock.

Played a little this morning after seeing the 360 to download and then shutdown. I got through the Bathysphere and a little way into Rapture...all I can say is 8/20 can't get here nearly soon enough. Halo 3 what? Bioshock F'n PWNS Halo. The plasmids are fun to experiment with and the level of interactivity and atmosphere is insane!

Jim..you're are definitely correct...this demo is quite unsettling and very scary...but its easily the best shooter I've had the opportunity to play in a VERY long time.

That trailer rules!!! Best original trailer I've ever seen for a game. Can't wait to get my hands on that demo. Although, if its anything like the Stranglehold demo, that piece of shit keeps screwing around on Live everytime I try to download it. It keeps crashing my Live. :(

I hope this isn't the case with Bioshock, and I keep trying Stranglehold again and again but never get lucky. :( I really wanted to try that as well.

Damn it. This is the same thing that happened with Stranglehold. I still have Windows Vista! I still payed $400 to your damn company Microsoft! Why no love? What happened to "Games for Windows"? They ought to release these demos for PC at the same time because you need to use Windows to run them anyways.

hey all,

if you don't want to leave your 360 on to d/l it, go to console settings, shutdown, and set it for background d/l,

that way it stays off, but the green light will blink and still download all the goodness, and it is much quicker,

took me 2 hours last night to get 14%, took me 45 minutes today to get to 60% with background enabled.....

Just like South Beach, what with all of the neon art deco and intravenous drug use. It was very hard to drag myself away this morning. The story and setting is very fresh, Hollywood could turn this game into a really shitty movie.

the game played great. the water effects that were to be grandiose... some of them were, some of them werent. thats the one negative that really stuck with me, since they said there were like two guys just doing the water.
