BioShock debut launch trailer on Spike TV this Sunday photo
     Video

What are you doing Sunday night, August 12th at 9 p.m., 8 p.m. central? Don't lie to us - no one does anything important on Sunday night. You'll want to pause your game to tune into Spike TV to check out the worldwide debut of 2K's BioShock launch trailer.

2K tells us that during Spike TV's original series "The Kill Point," a 60-second never-seen-before trailer for BioShock will air. It will feature new footage from this freaky first-person shooter. Some "surprise announcement" by Game Head's Geoff Keighley will immediately follow the trailer, so look out for that as well.

Don't forget: BioShock is set to release for Xbox 360 and PC on August 21st. Tell 'em Big Daddy sent ya.

Along with the money for the banners - how much ARE they paying you to mention the game every two hours?

I'm hoping for a demo confirmation with the hopes that it's out next week on XBL...or an earlier drop for release.

@ BlackDove
Even without the advertising dollars, Destructoid should be mentioning Bioshock every two hours based solely on its pending awesomeness. Besides, Kotaku reported this about two hours ago, so there's some proof that it's real news.

BlackDove - Just doing my job. The same story is up at other gaming sites, too.

I'm cool with the game, I already decided for myself long ago that I'll buy it, but I like my advertisments on the banner sections where I can ignore them.

Turning the advertisments into a story every fifteen minutes is annoying, repetitive and downright undignified. Mostly because the advertisment is masked as something that truly has content.

I get that you are whores here due to your independence, money is nice, but do you have to make it that obvious?

Hmm, actually now that I take a step back, I guess it's my fault - I thought you reposted this twice.

I guess I should think twice before I label people unjustly, this one's my bad - I've seen the same story on Kotaku earlier in the day and I mixed up as to where I've seen it, thinking you've already covered the Spike TV ad news, while in fact it's just every blog posting about the same thing that had me reading it more than once.

My apologies. It's my fault.

How come I think this game looks boring and cliche?

I think that I got turned off to it after watching interviews with the games creator, who seemed to think he was really creative and awesome because his game was mysterious and takes place underwater. Not impressed. He also brags about making the game up as he went along, and that no one else was making games like his. Well, I can think of at least three games in the genre that look more interesting to me (Clive Barker's Jericho, Metroid Prime 3, and of course teh Halos).

The only thing this game has that stands out to me is the stopping enemy missles in mid flight and throwing them back at the enemy. That's an awesome idea, and I can't wait for another more appealing game to steal it, so I can play that game instead.

If Bioshock was more humble, I think I'd be more into it. But it's being hyped to the point that I don't even want to play it anymore.

aw man it's on during The Kill Point? sweet! means i would have seen it anyway, as ima fan of the show. and if you all have nothing better to do anyway, check it out - pretty good show about a bank robbery gone wrong... though it IS the fourth episode. you might feel like you've missed a lot.

@Tron:

You should probably put down the pipe and then review all FPS games that have come out in the past half a decade. To call Bioshock cliche is pretty ridiculous.

Tron...you say this game is being over hyped yet you can't wait for halo 3...i don't see the "special edition" Bioshock xbox360s...halo 3 is being shilled on mountain dews for god sakes...oh and the cliche comment is just ridiculous coming from someone who cant wait for a bunch of sequels.

I'm not going to get too excited, because whenever I do, I'm disappointed. I'm definately going to get it, and prolly enjoy it. I'll save my bowing and scraping untill after I've played a few hours, though.

-And lay off the Destructoid. Niggas gotta eat.
