BioShock book to be published this fall photo

Fantasy and game-related book publisher Tor Books is set to publish a BioShock book this fall, according to a page in the publisher’s latest catalogue.

Scant details are scant, but Gamasutra pulled a minor quote and a juicy suggestion of an author from the teaser. The book will supposedly take readers “deeper into the realms” of the BioShock storyline. And according to the catalogue's index, the page was written by Ken Levine -- a writer and designer for 2K Games’ original BioShock and arguably the person best equipped to handle Rapture's story.

The million dollar question -- is Levine writing the book -- remains unanswered for time time being.

For the record, Tor Books doesn’t screw around. They’ve worked with some of the hottest sci-fi and fantasy authors of this generation and continue to publish great videogame-related novels like Ghosts of Onyx and Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne.

I'll wait for the read-along audio picture book.

I won't pass this off just yet. I've gotten some enjoyment out of other video game novels.

A collection of shorter stories that are news media or written diaries (instead of audio diaries) that detail the history and mythology from the perspectives of different individuals would be awesome in my opinion.

Hmm, this good show some promise if it's put into the right hands. I'll probably pick it up when it comes out.

It will cost you 5 cents to read each page, the Ayn Rand way!

I'm hoping it will be written by Shamus Young. After all, he did an awesome job on his (free) System Shock novel.

I will most certainly pick this up. Game books are a guilty pleasure. I loved the Hellgate London trilogy, and I adored the first Mass Effect book . . . and I didnt' even like the actual games. Bioshock certainly has a world rich with possibility. Can't wait.
