BioShock 2's Big Daddy design revealed in GamePro photo

If you loved the first BioShock as much as I did, surely you've been keeping up with the details on BioShock 2. In that case, you'll likely be quite interested in this image on the cover of the July issue of GamePro. The issue features a ton of exclusive new content on the game, including multiplayer details and who the ultimate enemy is. It's not the Big Sister, apparently... maybe it's the person controlling her, if there could be such a thing?

The Big Daddy above is the prototype that you will play as in the single player version of the upcoming game. I can't say I'm not curious to hear about the new details, but funny enough, when I get really excited about a game, I find myself starting to avoid more content about it rather than pursue it as I like to be somewhat surprised when I finally get to play the game. I may not be able to resist picking up a copy of this, though.I hear there's a special issie of PC Gamer coming with major multiplayer focus as well (see gallery for the cover).

Are you going to run out and get one (or both)?

Well , if in my country I had Game Informer I would definetively buy it , I won't read anything about the SP , but strange enough , what's interesting to me in Bioshock 2 is the MP , at first I thought it was the sign of Bioshock getting raped , but then they said :
"See Rapture before the fall – Experience Rapture before it was reclaimed by the ocean and engage in combat over iconic environments in locations such as Kashmir Restaurant and Mercury Suites, all of which have been reworked from the ground up to deliver a fast-paced multiplayer experience."
I came .

It really reminds me of the starmen for some reason. I think its the head.

It certainly is a lot less bulkier than I thought when I first heard about it and I'm fine with that. Although, I can't shake the feeling that this Big Daddy is Tom Servo from MST3K and Robby the Robot's love child.

Nah, I will just wait until the information hits the Internet, which will happen somewhere around two seconds after these hit shelves.

I'm working through Bioshock now- so good. I'm not really feeling that design though... I really liked the original big daddy and their authentic diving suit sort of look.This is more humanistic I guess I need something to compare it to something for scale.

I want statues of both the Prototype Daddy and the Big Sister to go along with my Bouncer statue!

@Naim Master
So the multiplayer itself is the prequel? Fontaine vs Andrew Ryan? Sounds crazy, but it might work.

@Taumptytear
That was exactly what I thought as well! :D

I like the old design better, this one just looks like a person in a bad 50s robot costume. I like the old ones with the bent over posture ,big round heads, and functional face roll cage, This one looks too human and doesn't have that "I was once normal guy but now I'm a monster with a diving suit for skin" look.

Well of course it's not going to look all kick ass like more newer Big Daddies, this is the Prototype. I like it. It's nice and simple. But I do have to wonder, what in the hell is up with the camera on its head?

I like it. Nice and simple, but still damn intimidating.

I can see why they were so expensive to make in game, tubes nad vessels everywhere.

I'm currently not a fan of this look for the Big Daddy. Who knows, it may grow on me. I'm still definitely buying Bioshock 2.

Interesting design. I'll probably avoid too much info to make the game more surprising and fun...although I'm sure the internet will see to revealing/spoiling something that I would have liked better waiting for.

Wait, if that protoype Big Daddy has a drill arm, where does he keep the rivet gun? Cause I'm sure he was using the rivet gun in the trailer video.

I still think they are ruining the story by revealing that the Big Sister is being controlled(even if they don't say who yet). Basically, I'm trying to avoid everything Bioshock 2 until the game's release because of that. So, no, you're not alone in that.

Ahhh...
I prefer Rosie than this Starmen, i mean, Bog Daddy.
But hey, it's in 1st person, it's not like i give a shit abou how the character looks like.

This one looks dumb. Just let me play as one of the Bouncers. Even the Rosies looked lame once you've seen the Bouncer. Hell, the Bouncer is on the cover of the first one for a reason. He's super iconic and looks like a total badass. Rosie just looked like a lesser version, and this guy... This guy just looks stupid.

I believe in the gameplay video I saw it looked like you use weapons like the rivet gun in your right hand and your left hand is your drill.

How many copies did Bioshock sell? How many Game of the Year awards? 50+? How about they just throw a blanket over Bioshock 2 and we play the game when it's released. Trust me 2K, the game will make you oodles of money.

Are we done hating on this game now?

I know the typical gamer herd mentality is to hate it because the first one was "sacred", but I'm personally stoked.

It kinda' looks like they're moving away from the conventional weapons, which is good. The shooting mechanics in Bioshock were massively underwhelming.
