As is often the case, Amazon has sales on video games. This is one such sale.
Today only, you can grab a copy of BioShock 2 for 360 or PS3 at the low, low price of $40. But that's not all! If you're a 360 user, they're having deals as part of their "Gold Box" promotions. That means time-limited "Lightning Deals" all day long. Pretty exciting stuff. I think there's going to be a music game in there somewhere.
Look, I'm not going to make some long-winded appeal for you to buy BioShock 2. Just know that you should do it, that it is in many ways superior to its predecessor even if the two are incomparable in other respects. Just buy it, play it and love it.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

I hope to god the final Gold Box deal is FFXIII(I don't really like JRPG's but I wanna try FF13). LightningDeals are usually never wrong on their guesses though. :[
As for the game itself? I have yet to even begin single-player. Multiplayer is just so much fun. That and I felt I got my Rapture story fill with the first game.
So what, if anything, prevents Amazon - or any company for that matter - from running a $5 sale on a game, and getting everyone to buy from them? Would that somehow backfire? Because that's something I've always wondered. If someone wanted to take a large % of the market in video game sales, it seems that they could simply slash $5 off game prices since everyone charges the same thing, but because NO ONE does this, there must be a logical reason.
Any thoughts, anyone?
One and a half words: Pre-Order Bonuses. If Best Buy/GameStop/etc. didn't have specific/exclusive/awesome Pre-Order Bonuses, they would quickly become obsolete for the reason you stated above(their lame, high prices). What kept me from getting Mass Effect 2, BioShock 2, SplinterCell:Conviction and Street Fighter IV from Amazon(or any other online retailer)? Pre-Order Bonuses. Take those away and I'll never shop for games in a brick-and-mortar store ever again. But GameStop/BestBuy know this, so they'll never stop.
I will, thusly, take you at your word that Bioshock 2 is better than the first, and pick it up on the cheap.
