The level cap blues might not set in for the frag-masters of Rapture. 2K Games is set to bump up the volume of BioShock 2's MP component with "Sinclair Solutions Test Pack," the first substantial piece of DLC to hit the game. It adds, in brief, new weapon upgrades, new masks, new rewards, new characters and additional ranks.
Announced this afternoon, the pack will hit Xbox LIVE and Games for Windows LIVE at a 400 Microsoft price point. On PSN, it will cost the equivalent in real money: 5 bucks.
No release date for "Sinclair Solutions Test Pack" was announced. Below the fold, you'll be able to get the full listing of additions, and read a little bit about the latest tease for single-player content, slated to hit "in the coming months."
The Additions:
• Rank Increase to level 50 with Rank Rewards
• New playable characters Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca
• 20 new trials*
• A third weapon upgrade for each weapon
• Five additional masks*
*Some items are only available after a player achieves a rank of 41 or higher.
We'd usually get a little sore about the DLC not having a date, but we'll take some SP DLC teasery in its place just about every other day. (One can only have so much teasery.) According to the official PR blast, SP DLC will "provide new insight into the world of Rapture," and will include narrative, "new tools" and "new challenges." Groovy!
it's such a shame too, they got most of the ideas right for it, but man its hard to have when matchmaking takes forever, grenade launchers are insanely overpowered, lag abounds, and the game ending freeze glitch hits you every other match.
Couldn't have put it better myself. I refuse to go back to BS2 MP until it's fixed.
Since they're adding new characters with this DLC, I would also hope that these characters get audio diaries. That's one of the aspects I found most intriguing about the multiplayer. The characters for multiplayer weren't just mindless generic skins but actual characters in the universe with their own motivations.
The singleplayer DLC... meh. I don't see either Bioshock as an expandable game in that fashion really, but I will read the description and decide then I suppose.
Don't get me wrong I REALLY think i can get in to this. The apartment (glorified hub but wicked) the plasmids the customization the timesplitters style gameplay I love. In fact I may buy the Dlc I may get to the highest level and keep playing.
If they fix the bullshit lag that is in every game with more than 2 people even on perfect connections.
@AngelsDontBurn
No lag? Then you sir Are the luckiest player online. I have a 33 mb virgin broadband connection. And it lags worse than ANY game i have played online. Completely unplayable.
