BioShock 2 DLC announced with new level cap, characters photo

2K Games has today officially announced the first batch of downloadable content for BioShock 2. The Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack will offer a new level cap, fresh characters, and a host of other additions include third-tier weapons and a greater selection of masks. In fact, let me just list exactly what you'll get:

  • Rank increase to level 50 with Rank Rewards
  • New playable characters - Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca
  • 20 new trials*
  • A third weapon upgrade for each weapon
  • Five additional masks*.

*Some items are only available after a player achieves a rank of 41 or higher

The Tester Pack will cost 400 MS Points on PC and Xbox 360, and $4.99 on the PS3. It'll release on March 11, 2010. How many of you are still playing BioShock 2 enough to justify this? Personally, I gave up after the fifth laggy match.

March 5, 2010 - 2K Games announced today that the Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack, the first in a series of single and multiplayer downloadable content for BioShock®2, will be available on March 11, 2010 from both the Xbox®LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows®-LIVE for 400 Microsoft Points, and from the PlayStation®Network for $4.99

BioShock 2 has already shipped over three million units worldwide just four weeks after its release - cementing its place as one of 2010's blockbuster games. Additionally, the original BioShock has now sold more than four million units globally since its release in August 2007, bringing the total sales of the franchise to seven million units.

Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack, the first of several planned downloadable packages, contains a number of customization features that will allow players to further their character's development in BioShock 2's multiplayer modes and provide a deeper multiplayer experience. The pack includes:

Rank increase to level 50 with Rank Rewards

New playable characters - Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca

20 new trials*

A third weapon upgrade for each weapon

Five additional masks*

*Some items are only available after a player achieves a rank of 41 or higher.

Announcements about additional downloadable content for BioShock 2 that will extend the game's single player and multiplayer experience will be made in the coming weeks.

BioShock 2 is available now for the Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows-LIVE and is rated M for Mature by the ESRB.

Did anyone on Earth ever reach the max cap? It was too laggy on PC, so I quit after about a week.

I just bought Bio 2, haven't tried MP yet. With the stories I hear on the net, I probably never will.

Uh I am a rank 40, doesn't mean I want to play it ever again.

I did reach level 40. And had no lag problems whatsoever. Anyways this news is old. This has been announced a while before.

I'm playing the single player game and have no interest at all in the multiplayer. They shouldn't have bothered.

It's great that they put out a DLC before actually fixing the damn MP on the PC.

You have a really small chance of getting a host were no one has lag, but if you have your lucky shoes on and you do get a perfect host plus players it's pretty good I think.

The conclusion of this? Release a damn dedicated or host the shit for yourself. All these lazy publishers that just put a P2P system in a MP are slowly killing the MP all across the systems. People are running around with "lag switching". If you don't know what this is just search for it on youtube. You'll find some pretty amazing videos. Especially in MW2 this is abused like crap and according to the 2k forums it's used in BS2 too.

DLC is MP only? Waste of time. Why would I pay for a level cap removal? Did Digital Extreme think they'd made the next WoW with the MP portion of Bioshock 2? All this makes me want to do is grind up to level 40 as fast as possible to be done with the game.

At least with the original DLC that came on the PS3, the challenge rooms felt like decent bonus content. This just feels like I'm getting dribbles of content that they locked on the disc.

Cripes, even the original 360 release got free Plasmids and better support than this.

I thought the multiplayer was really good but the lag murdered it. Won't be touching it again - and certainly won't be buying any DLC for it - until it gets a patch.

I'll probably use the free 400 points I got from Microsoft for this since... 400 points can't do much else (and yes, I already have DOOM).

I've experienced no lag whatsoever in mp. Surprised to hear about it. It's a good run around in general.

I have no clue WTF yall are smoking. BioShock 2 multiplayer is fun as shit! I haven't even touched the singleplayer as I could give a rats ass about the story after that holier-than-thou first game. The only lag I have had was menu lag in the lobby but in-game its always fine. God. So many good memories of the multiplayer and its only been one month. Moar Multiplayer DLC ftw. And its not $10? I'm sold.

My net connection is great for every other game so I have no clue why its so laggy for bioshock 2 its unplayable, but its a shame as I really wanna get into it.
Oh and i swear Even Destructoid did a post about this when it was first announced a week ago, I still have the same comment: HOW BOUT FIX THE FUCKING LAG FIRST!

I don't appreciate paying for something that's already on the disc. Just being greedy, imo.

BioShock 2's multiplayer isn't bad at all. In fact, I'd say as a (tacked on) multiplayer for shooters, it's one of the better ones. Where else can you inflict bees on people and then kill them with a nail gun?

I've been playing the multiplayer. Level 20 so far. I'm enjoying the experience. It's not as smooth or streamlined as say, Killzone 2, but I can deal with it. Playing a nutjobby splicer is fun.

I've got to level 32, multiplayer is fun but really unbalanced to the people who are only just starting. They don't get a lot of the good plasmid/gun combos that most high leveled people use, like Electro Bolt w/ Elephant Gun headshot or Insect Swarm w/ Nail Gun.

That's odd. I was one of the most outspoken advocates of there NOT even being a sequel, much less multiplayer, and even I tried it out for a bit and found it a bit fun. Not long lasting, not meant to compete with the Battlefields, UTs, and CoDs of the world, but just a good distraction after you've absorbed the SP.

But laggy? I don't know. I have the 360 version and it only lagged on me once out of dozens of matches. My issue was actually finding a game in any other gametype than deathmatch. Sometimes, it can feel like Gears 2 if you want to do something OTHER than play Civil War.

I honestly cant complain, I really like the MP, i didnt have the super lag most speak of, compared to gears 2 constant minimal lag i perfered this game. I'm actually excited for the DLC, I lvl capped and played more, this will give me more of a reason to come back to the fun I had before.
