Although I would never use a gamepad over a mouse n keyboard on the PC, I still think the option should be there regardless of whether or not they designed the HUD to work exceptionally well with a mouse n keyboard setup. They should be catering to everyone, including those outcasts who use the gamepad on their PC to play FPS games.

If you are playing Bioshock 2 on a PC then why on Earth would you want to use a controller? I agree that controller support is an odd thing to be dropped from the game, but FPS games were made for mouse and keyboard, why would you want to use an inferior, less accurate control style?

K+M aside (we all know they are more precise for certain tasks, so quit crying), MS releasing the 360 controller for PC use, was the best thing to happen to the PC games in years, as it expanded shinking catalogue of a piracy ridden sector. At last, a standardised USB controller from MS (yes I had an MS Sidewinder pad too, but that was serial and ages ago).

The PC elitists who are saying "Anyone who uses a Pad should go back to XBOX lol" are killing their own system. Because those people go back to Console gaming. They play the same games you do. They play the majority of them on the lead development console. They pay a one of fee of £200 for their console with no upgrade costs. You might like to deny it, But PC gaming isn't healthy.
Example: My Laptop cannot run the AvP demo above 5FPS, It's unplayable. To get a Laptop card capable of running it at 30FPS, I'd have to pay above £100.
I can buy it on PS3 for £40, and get similar performance as to what the £100+ card would give me.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love a gaming PC.
I'm not stupid enough to spend thousands of pounds to play Xbox/PS3 games.

Why can't people ever accept that some people like mouse and keyboard and some people like controllers. There is no RIGHT WAY its all opinions and some people don't agree and that really isn't a big deal. A controller can offer more comfort than keyboard and mouse not that the problem can't be solved with apps anyways. People need to just accept their way isn't the only way and enjoy themselves stop worrying about how other people want to play.

This is stupid beyond all reason. PC gamers really aren't happy about anything. The reason you buy the PC version is to get better controls with mouse/keyboard. Why on Earth would you complain about no controller support?
@nakedeyes: PC's are much more then just "gaming tools"... So how's that internet browsing and checking destructoid on your PS3 or Xbox360. Was it easy to "add comment" on them for you? Or knowing that 1 piece of your Xbox dies you have to send the whole thing in... my mobo or mouse dies... oh ya... not even the cost of a game to repair... how's that xbox? 3 year warranty? 1 year warranty... PC owners get MULTI warrantys from the retail seller like newegg has a 1 year and most of the manufactures of pc products has 3,5,Lifetime... Enjoy your xbox... I understand that a controller is a must for fighting games and possibly racing games but am shocked to hear ppl actually use the 360 controllers on PC for FPSs. I don't know why anyone would willingly handicap themselves on the PC. What's next, a petition for controller support for Starcraft II/Daiblo 3/Half-life 4? Either man up and learn to master the mouse's superior accuracy and precision or buy a damn xbox/ps3. problem solved.

Instead of hitching just download xpadder. It's a free program that you can use to play games with a controller. The anolog sticks can be set at a mouse and the other buttions can be whatever you want. You don't need to depend on developers to put controller support in the games. On a side note however, the mouse and keyboard rule for multiplayer but the controller is more fun for singleplayer. The reason I play PC is for choice. Controller vs mouse is choice.
Also last I checked no PC gaming is crying or beging for a control fix. I usually use Xpadder for my older non game controller friendly games. In fact I set up call of duty 1 to work with it. PC gamers know how to use google.

Mouse and keyboard is always the best for a first person game, huh? I don't think so. Mirror's edge is one example of a game I can't even imagine trying to play with a mouse and keyboard, and that game had *excellent* gamepad support. Seriously, I had a 360 controller plugged into my PC and all of the menu options were even relabeled with 360 controller buttons. More importantly, I can't see how someone could play a game that requires as much precise movement as Mirror's Edge with some silly keyboard. Ok, I'm exaggerating--I could see how you could play it *very badly* with a mouse and keyboard.
Cowboy TTop already nailed this issue on the head. Some games are better with K&M others with a gamepad, either way PC games should come with both options - there's no point in alienating people when the relevant code is readily available for implementation.

Ok so I am one of the main people behind this whole thing. I helped get the word out to other forums, I started the petition, etc etc. My name on the forums is MonkeyPunchBaby, look for me and for the things i say. Now the reason I want to play with gamepad, is bc i am too uncoordinated to use m&kb. Simple answer. As for my laptop, its not just a gaming device, its everything i need for work and school. I experience with PC games was pretty limited before I bought this. SimTower and some point and click games.I was raised on the Atari 7800 and been playing console game ever since. Using a controller, almost no matter what controller, is second nature to me. Using a m&kb, feels very very uncomfortable to me. Can I use it, sure. Do I enjoy it, no. Wouldnt we all rather enjoy the game the way we like best? You like m&kb. awesome! Im not trying to take it away from you. Im just asking that the controller and m&kb options live harmoniously side by side. Not everyone plays on the same difficulty, but should they remove hard bc you don't play on it? Just as a reminder, this is not a what is better argument. Which those are silly anyway bc how can someone know what you like best. Thank you for your time.
