Bionic Commando PC finally hits retail, Steam photo

Bionic Commando -- the new one, not Rearmed or the NES classic -- is now available for PC at retail stores and Steam for $39.99. Actually, scratch that. If you pre-purchase from Steam, you can save a few bucks; also, there's supposed to be a bundle with Rearmed for $44.99, but it hasn't showed up yet.

Ordinarily, I would try to look for the positives in the situation, but there aren't many to be found here. The buzz around Bionic Commando is that it can be fun once you pick up the swing mechanic, but it didn't exactly review well. Plus, the console versions are now $19.99 and under if you look in the right places.

To the game's credit, the piano version of its main theme is beyond rad. Seriously, go listen to it if you have yet to hear it -- it brings back fond memories of the original.

Agreed, the title music for Bionic Commando had me plucking away at a piano shortly after hearing it, and stuck firmly in my head for weeks.

On that note, the whole soundtrack is amazing, and probably the best part of the game. It's almost as good as Rearmed's music.

I actually enjoyed the game. Sure its not GOTY material, but I had fun with it. And the soundtrack is amazing.

What the fuck? 40 dollars for the PC version when the console version is 20 dollars?! This is a sick world we live in...

The port is horrible. Absolutely horrible. There are no quality settings -at all-, and resolution changes wouldn't stick between level loads until I changed them in the config file and set it read-only! Also you can't change resolution ingame, only in the main menu, and like hell can my card take 1680x1050 with this. Plus the UI references the xbox controller constantly (press left for my objectives? ok. Er, tab is not left), and when it DOES show you what letter you're meant to press for certain actions... it gets it wrong. Highly reccommend against buying this.

"The first true sequel to the classic 1988 Nintendo Entertainment System original"

Uhhh.. isn't that Rearmed, since it was released first?

Also packaging it with Rearmed = genius. Not selling me though.

I wouldnt call Rearmed a sequel, so much as a reiteration of the classic. And an awesome one at that.

Rearmed is a remake. This is a sequel. I'll say the game was REALLY good for $20 on the consoles. If what the previous commented said about the technical issues are true though the I wouldn't bite.

But using the classic "Rad" Spencer outfit is a must. The new dreadlock outfit is AWFUL.

Gawd, that tune is amazing... Listen.
Especially on piano! So epic. =)
Yes, this game is a lot of fun! Don't listen to the negative vibe surrounding the title, check it out for yourself. You may be surprised... I was.
Also, Retro outfit.

I know this game rocks for $19.99!
Like you said, it's sad it got such negativity.

I actually picked up a second sealed copy of Bionic Commando & Resident Evil 5!!! Just to make sure I have a copy throughout the future years.

To all his own, I guess patience is a virtue. BUT I can appreciate the work and toil GRIN/CAPCOM put into this title... It has a pretty unique MP take to boot.

The game may be linear, but it feels like one hell of a modern take on the series. I feel that ppl who struggled with the controls right away. Really put a negative vibe out into the mainstream.

Remember that it was sooooo cool to hate on the PS3 then RRoD happened to almost everyone at least twice. Before they bought another or gave up. I feel that hate out there for Capcom in general this generation.

They are experimenting with controls/atmosphere quite a bit. But who wants to play the same/safe thing over & over. Not me...

It is NOT by far, a terrible game!
BTW!, everyone; says "RE5 was a HUGE dissapointment!" ect. Uhhh, over 5 Million Copies Sold and My Personal GOTY!!!
