When Nick let the cat out the bag that Capcom's Ben Judd had commented that they were still teetering on the idea of porting Bionic Commando to the Wii if consumer interest deemed it necessary, it seemed all but inevitable that the Internet would notice -- and take notice it has.
We were wondering how long it would take for the online petitions to show up, and lo and behold, GoNintendo sends this link to our tip line. Now I'm not going to say that this petition is going to make it happen, but I can tell you for certain that Capcom is very much aware of our blogs here at Destructoid. If enough people sign it, you just might make a difference.
One last point of contention though -- don't just give this lip service and sign it blindly. Actually following through with a purchase (should the port become a reality) is the best way to convince Capcom that we need more games like this on the Wii. There is an alternative, you know: endless waves of mini-game based titles that do well to entertain small groups of friends, but do little to boost the singleplayer experience.
With as strong an installed base that the Wii commands, there shouldn't exactly be a shortage of consoles out there for the game to reside on. So what are you waiting for? I left some room for you underneath my signature.
[Thanks, Senior Costa]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
All the funnier when it fails :)
It will be funnier when the game gets released on the Wii, and gets outsold by whatever minigame collection is out at the time.
That's the beauty of Destructoid. Niero gives us the freedom to cover what is important to us. I can't speak for (nor did I intend to) the entire site, but I can tell you that I support it.

you mean the wii needs more ports? how about people petition developers to put some thought into making unique games that make full use of the wii.
However, there are a shit ton of Wiis in the wild. Don't they deserve some Bionic Commando love too? I, for one, think they do.
Nor does anyone want Goldeneye on 360, whether they realize it or not. The game would NOT be the same without the N64 controller. Youl'd just be left with a dated ugly FPS, wondering why you thought this was awesome. And I've played Goldeneye more than any of you, so don't tell me I don't know how good it is.
Also, Wedge, you are incorrect. Goldeneye would be a smash on XBLA, and I'm sure it'd be a Friday Night Fights mainstay for a long, long time. Most people will probably love it twice as much with the 360 controller. After all, we've been playing its FPS offspring on the 360 for a while now, so that control scheme is second-nature to us. It was made for it. The N64 controller, frankly, is unwieldy and inelegant. Though, it's ultimately a matter of personal taste.
Also, it is true that not everyone owns both a Wii and a next-gen console, but most of the people who own solely a Wii probably also have a library consisting of little more than Wii Sports and Carnival Games. A Wii version of Bionic Commando would be a terrible idea, because its target audience probably owns a 360 or PS3, and the rest of the Wii population wouldn't give a rat's ass about it.
BC for Wii couldn't be a "port", it'd have to be a completely different game like what Sierra is doing with Ghostbusters.
The problem with porting code to the Wii is the motion controls being 'tacked on', although good design will minimise this. Godfather is a prime example - it's a PS2 port but the controls work perfectly and the gameplay knocks the socks off the other versions.
I'd be quite happy to see Bionic Commando on the Wii, particularly if the design of the Wii specific controls is done well. It won't look as pretty as the other SKUs but if designed well enough will be more enjoyable and immersive to play.
There Capcom, I just did all the controls for you, you're welcome.
Same with Resident Evil 5.
Now that I've played RE4 and Metroid Prime 3, I can't really go back to dual analog control for this sort of game. Playing the GC RE4 and earlier Prime games feels so much worse by comparison.
@Wedge: Shut up. I would love to play Goldeneye on my Xbox. Just because you don't want to doesn't mean that me and a ton of other people don't.
This is true. It really gets on my nerves to hear so many Wii owners complain about lack of third party games, and then when they get actually solid titles (Zack & Wiki, No More Heroes, Monster Hunter announcement, etc) they always scream out "No, not THAT one!" They want to have their cake and eat it too, and it's really annoying because I'm one of the minority Wii owners that actually gets "hardcore" gametime out of it and try to help out third-party sales.
To whiny Wii owners: Actually shell out and support third parties when they put real effort into good games, and then you can complain.
You realize that previous efforts to port 360/PS3 code to Wii have been disastrous? Rockstar Table Tennis for the Wii was a 360 port and it looked awful!!! MX vs. ATV Untamed for the Wii was a 360 port and it was shoddy with an awful framerate. Need for Speed Prostreet for the Wii was a 360 port and it was awful, full and jaggies and a framerate that didn't go above 20 FPS.
If you're porting to the Wii, you're better off porting from the PS2 like EA Sports games, Tomb Raider Anniversary and Manhunt 2 - You get less jaggies and a more consistent framerate. The Wii is the odd man out in most cases. Porting up from the PS2 doesn't take advantage of the Wii hardware but porting down from the 360/PS3 results in an unplayable mess. The 3rd party software sales oftentimes don't warrant a a separate Wii build of a game alongside build 360/PS3 and PS2 builds. The Wii is about as powerful as the Xbox 1, but Xbox 1 games aren't made anymore.
What 3rd party Wii game has even come close? None, that's what. Sega is the only one that's come close with the release of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games at 2.43 million. For how good a game it is, Resident Evil 4 - Wii Edition has sold an underwhelming 1.32 million units and it followed closely by Guitar Hero III.
Third-Parties on the Wii are competing against Nintendo themselves to get sales, and everyone knows that Nintendo will make sure that its games will remain the best games on the system through anticompetitive measures.
The first online Wii game was a Nintendo game.
The best looking game on the Wii is a Nintendo game.
Nintendo makes sure that its software remains the best software on its own platform.
Only owning a Wii means you miss out on a lot of good stuff. Get used to it.
