Remember that Bionic Commando demo Capcom teased a few weeks back? Well, it's coming tomorrow to Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Xbox 360 owners, fire up your Gold Xbox LIVE accounts; we've confirmed that Capcom has no plans for a PlayStation 3 or PC version of the demo.

Tomorrow's demo is multiplayer only, featuring one of the game's deathmatch battles on the "Vertigo" map for up to ten players. The final game will ship with 16 maps. There is no single-player version demo of the game planned, either, so you'll have to take your $59.99 into your own hands when picking up Bionic Commando in late May.

Capcom has also released another promotional video for the game, Lab Report 2, detailing the game's controls. Like hooking on to things. And then smashing them up. And then punching things in the face. Check it out after the jump.

First it's release exclusivity, then timed exclusivity, then unintentional exclusivity (i.e. Fallout 3 lol), then DLC exclusivity, now demos? Jeez.

this article is confusing "Xbox 360 owners, fire up your Gold Xbox LIVE accounts; we've confirmed that Capcom has no plans for a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 version of the demo. "
WUT?

Exclusive demos are annoying. PS3 does the same thing with Quore, which occasionally offers exclusive demos or at least 2 or 3 weeks before everyone else. What is the point of making a demo exclusive? That's like having a cheese taste-test at the mall, but then you only let people wearing suits try your cheese. Wouldn't you sell more cheese if you let everyone taste it?

Now I want some cheese.

@linuxguy

Maybe instead of "fire up" your Gold Xbox Live account, Nick meant "set fire to"...

Making demos exclusive kinda defeats the point of a demo doesn't it, I not sure if I want this game and with no demo I'm not exactly gonna sink 60 bucks into something I might not care for, especially when other companies are working hard for my attention.

@necrozen

Yeah, Qore has that to deal with too, but in their case the exclusives are usually for PS3-exclusive games. Not that that makes it much better, since you have to pay for Qore, but at least it makes more sense than providing a demo on only one platfrom.

But yeah, I'm still pretty sore about the Valkyria Chronicles demo being Qore exclusive (outside of Europe). Fuckers. Maybe the game wouldn't have been such a slow burn if they had made the demo more widespread.

I'm as confused as Linuxguy concerning that sentence, unless you mean vanilla Xbox Live users get the shaft.
For me Bionic Commando only has to be half as good as Game of 2008 BC:Rearmed for it to warrant purchase. Demo might of clinched a rare day one "got-to-have-it" from me. Now I'll wait for the reviews. That's what your exclusive demo foolishness has resulted in Capcom.

That was meant to read "PC" demo.

I'll try out the demo, but at this point, Red Faction already has my cash, so Bionic Commando's going to have to offer me something damn nice to make up for the not-destructability of the environment.

Crackdown and Red Faction's multiplayer have spoiled me, Bionic Commando. You better have a damn nice single player campaign. If you don't, I'll ditch you for Prototype in an instant.

@ unangbangka

Yeah. I actually subscribe to Quore, but not for the demos.

I just wanted to have another example to put out there. If I would have said: "Why is this exclusive! This sucks!" The first response would have been: "Well Quore has been doing exclusive demos all along!" So I figured I'd complain about both.

Exclusive games, exclusive DLC, exclusive game magazines, now exclusive demos?

Well, I guess we'll know if it's worth getting the game for its mechanics. I'm still hoping for the best on this one.

I probably won't even be able to try it on Xbox tomorrow with my unofficial Silver membership.

Fuck you Capcom. No more money for you.

first it looked like a Kawasaki Ninja add, then that video...sorry to disappoint but that looked crap to me, they failed to bring megaman to the third dimension and from what i have seen now i think they are fucking up this one too...continues to sharpen his sword but will wait for the final verdict before beheading.

Devs don't launch free content on the PS3 because they have to pay per mB downloaded. That's right, Sony charges developers based on how many times their content is downloaded. While MS is happy to help devs sell content on their platform, Sony punishes developers with a hidden tax.

@koehler Who has a 360 and no gold account?
