I love borderline viral stuff. Today, Capcom released a new trailer for Bionic Commando. It’s called “Lab Report #001” and it’s probably the coolest thing we’ve seen within the last five or so minutes.
The video opens and closes with shots of a realistic bionic arm, suspended by cords and cables on some sort of brightly lit table. It’s beautiful, in that disembodied robot arm kind of way. After a few seconds of the initial arm shots, you’ll be shown footage from the game. It's a small slice of the Bionic Commando pie, however I think it gives a good indication of how the arm operates and how it can be applied to various environmental objects.
I’m told that the swinging mechanic takes some time to master, but I’m totally up for the challenge. Hit the break for the video and observe the sexy arm, then tell me that you're not up for conquering a steep learning curve, too.
Seriously though. I got to play this early last year. The grappling system is something to not dismiss as anything related to spider man... except it makes spider man look like a bitch compared to Bionic Commando.
I'm really quite amazed at how fluid and controllable the grappling is looking.
I played BC:Rearmed Co-op for the first time yesterday with a competitive friend trying to race through levels. We did poorly but it was a good laugh. In no way do I think this game needs Co-op but it would be a nice bonus. Capcom should know I would even be willing to pay for it DLC wise (yet another poke at RE5, heh).
Looks like fun. I just hope that there are tons of places [tall buildings] to actually swing to. I see lots of buildings in that trailer, and knowing me, I'll want to check each and every one out. I'm still exploring the Capital Wasteland just to be sure I haven't missed anything...
Looks pretty cool. I don't know what to think of those lock on reticules, they're part of the game and not part of the trailer right? Makes me think a lot of stuff won't be grapplable for some reason.
