Maybe I'm just crazy but the use of gray doesn't bother me, as long as it fits the tone of the game. Killzone 3 tried to hamfist that colorful jungle level into the game and it was preposterous.
I certainly expected a lot more from the guys who brought us F-Zero GX, Super Monkey Ball and the Yakuza series. Artistically, I mean. The game may be good, although I think it will be a little generic.
amtalx: It's not that grey is inherently bad. It's just using a blend of washed-out greys with very little else can make a game look really ugly.
Demon's Souls made great use of grey to create some bleak, stormy levels. It contrasted shades excellently and married it to some inspired architecture to create something evocative. Binary Code, on the other hand, is just grey cubes and grey streets. It's not inspiring at all.

Oh man, I got in the post thinking Sasha Grey would be appearing in this game as well.. One can dream..

considering all of the screens Sega released so far, Binary Domain will be very far from generic looking shooter in terms of visuals. plus i think the overall graphics looks really good - frankly it's one of the best looking japanese titles i've seen in a very long time.

Jim you have a point, while im the first person to moan about the drab grey colours that are popular in western games, I never consiously thought that this was the same due to the plot and the robots appealing so much to me.
Athough considering I generally play colourfull Japanese games that playing a grey realistic shooter makes a change for me.
